Political Pest

Nothing brings parties together like antisemitism

Showing how antisemitism can still bring political foes together, Fidesz and the Free Democrats have jointly demanded the resignation of District XIII Socialist politician Miklós Döry, after Döry opined that since György Szabó, one of Fidesz's district representatives has spent so much time in Israel, he might as well move there, wrote Index.hu. The local Socialist branch immediately apologized, although Döry has yet to do so himself. Döry's words came as part of a response to Szabó's criticism of the economic situation in Hungary, and not as part of a lame joke ultimately determined to be neither really offensive nor even remotely funny.
