Tarlós announces Fidesz plan to revamp Budapest

Budapest city council Fidesz-Christian Democrat caucus leader István Tarlós on Sunday unveiled his party’s Budapest development concept entitled “A More Liveable and Attractive Budapest,” Magyar Hírlap writes.

Tarlós said “as a first step over the next three years I would pay particular attention to maintenance work and stabilising the capital’s near-chaotic operation, and aim any development projects to improving these.”

In the subsequent three years Tarlós would focus on “bringing about social security to an acceptable level,” and only then engage in dynamically developing Budapest to “a European standard.” Tarlós asserted that he would like to end the political division in the city leadership and, as mayor, would involve left-wing experts in the running of the city.
