Secret service snags over Laborc vetting

Military Security Office director general Géza Stefán has turned down a request from Defence Minister Imre Szekeres to vet Sándor Laborc, candidate for the post of National Security Office director general, because of a recent article in Magyar Hírlap.

The right-wing daily recently suggested that it could prove “embarrassing” if Laborc were vetted by Stefán, as he also pursued his studies at the Moscow Djerdsinky Institute in the eighties. Stefán reportedly told Szekeres that he wants to avoid even the semblance of being biased against Laborc. Szekeres will reportedly turn to the Military Intelligence Office.
