Tőkés asks Szili to compensate Transyvanian Hungarians for reduced subsidies

Transylvanian Calvinist Bishop László Tőkés sought the support of Parliamentary Speaker Katalin Szili to supplement the reduced subsidies earmarked by the Hungarian government for ethnic Hungarians beyond the border, during a meeting in Oradea on Wednesday.

Since Tőkés was elected as an MEP at the Romanian European Parliament elections last year, he has the right to take part in Budapest consultations, which were earlier only attended by officials representing the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania. He won his seat at the European Parliament as an independent candidate.
