Draskovics to replace Takács as Minister of Justice as Gyurcsány rings in “new politics”

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány has decided to replace Minister of Justice and Law Enforcement Albert Takács with former Minister of Finance Tibor Draskovics, currently a minister without portfolio in charge of public administration. According to news portal Index.hu, this move is not simply a change of personnel but a complete reorganization of his immediate environment. After the March 9 referendum, it is possible that Minister of Social and Labor Affairs Mónika Lamperth and Minister of Education and Culture István Hiller will also be forced to leave their posts.

Gyurcsány is expected to announce a program of “new politics” on Monday. The official reason for the shift of focus is that the reform of large supply systems and public administration is complete, which means the existing tasks of Draskovics and Gábor Szetey, recently resigned State Secretary responsible for Human Resources, have been completed.

The portal, based on rumors in Parliament, writes that the reshuffle of the system will not end with the replacement of the justice minister but will continue at the end of March, when Lamperth and Hiller might also be fired.

However, TV2 is reporting that Takács’s failure to address the AMgyar Gárda and the recent Molotov cocktail attacks on Socialist Ministers’ homes.
