National television presenter dismissed over ethics violations involving politicians

TV presenter András Bánó will cease hosting MTV’s “Nap-kelte” talk show from February 25, the company’s management decided on Wednesday. On January 10 Bánó shouted at Socialist MP József Karsai and would not allow fellow journalists to pose questions, MTV’s ethics committee found.

Karsai was the sole Socialist MP to oppose the passage of the multi-player health insurance bill in Parliament.

Bánó also displayed bias during an interview with Fidesz referendum campaign political leader István Tarlós on January 24. MTV earlier banned József Orosz and Endre Aczél from presenting the talk show, citing a conflict of interest.
