Fidesz representive allegedly beaten by Szombathely deputy mayor’s brother

A local Fidesz representative was beaten while putting up posters in Szombathely late Thursday evening, reports Híradó.hu.

Gábor Szakály said that his attacker was the brother of the town’s Socialist deputy mayor, Csaba Czeglédy. He suffered injuries to his skull and thigh.

Szakály was putting up posters for Sunday’s referendum when a man went approached him and verbally and physically assaulted him. A report of the incident arrived at the Vas County Police before midnight. Police launched proceedings for disorderly conduct, while the beaten man filed charges against his attacker, whom he identified by name, for minor physical assault. The local chapter of Fidesz-KDNP said the attacker was the younger brother of the Socialist deputy mayor.

Czeglédy confirmed that it was his brother who got into an argument with Szakály over the latter putting up posters at a location where it was not permitted. He added, however, that his brother was also injured, so he would also report his attacker to the police.
