Private security people illegally asked people for identity cards and searched them on Saturday, according to 13 observers from unnamed human rights groups in Austria, France and Switzerland, Magyar Hírlap reports. The observers, invited by Fidesz, said they will file a report about what they consider violations of law.
They say police securing of the Fidesz rally was excessive, as were their searches of people on the street. Fidesz House human rights committee chairman Zoltán Balog told reporters that he will ask Justice and Law Enforcement Minister Tibor Draskovics in Parliament today to investigate the unlawful acts. He complained that private security people searched citizens in several locations in Budapest, although they have no licence to do so.
Private security are not police and what people can do depends on who hired the security and did the problem take place on the company property or sources that hired them. Even then there are citizen rights but there are also security personnel rights. To call private security police is lucredious!
lucredious… nice coinage! expect there are already nine hits on Google
