Fidesz caucus leader Tibor Navracsics on Wednesday described the coalition as one of talking big and doing nothing. He said owing to the ongoing coalition dispute, no substantive government measures can be expected for nine or ten months. This year Parliament has passed only eight bills, he noted.
Navracsics said the coalition parties are too busy with each other and the government is unable to honor its pledge to carry out the convergence program, as the planned annual 3.3% rate of inflation could soar to 5.9% and the expected 2.8% economic growth will drop to 2.4%. Unemployment is on the rise and up to 500,000 people could be out of work by the end of the year, he asserted.
Navracsics announced that Fidesz is planning to draft bills from its “Strong Hungary” program and submit them to Parliament.
