Socialists count on opposition support for new, privatization-free health bill

Ildikó Lendvai, caucus leader of governing party MSZP has told HírTV that the party hopes to pass a modified health care privatization law even as a minority government by garnering the support of the opposition.

The MSZP caucus decided on Tuesday that it would not initiate the withdrawal of the controversial health care law while the coalition with the Liberals continues to exist. However, plans have begun to draft a new law that would exclude private capital from Hungarian health care. After the coalition split up, the party will present the new bill to the Parliament.
