Prosecutor rejects negligent homicide charges against prime minister

The chief prosecutor's office declined to press charges of negligent homicide as requested by the Civil Lawyers' Committee ("Civil Jogász Bizottság") against Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány, citing a lack of suspicion or evidence of a crime, an MTI report in Magyar Nemzet states.

The petition by the Civil Lawyers' Committee was turned in to the prosecutor's office in March, and cited the prime minister's actions in September and October of 2006, stating that they violated rights of assembly and contributed to a situation which could have resulted in the loss of life.

The committee added that the reason the prime minister could be charged with negligent homicide is because of the police, who used rubber bullets and teargas canisters to disperse crowds during the riots on October 23, 2006.

Government spokesman Dávid Daróczi called the petition "nonsense" and obviously politically motivated.

On October 23, 2006, the fiftieth anniversary of the 1956 revolution, far-right protesters clashed with police, eventually running into a crowd of tens of thousands leaving a peaceful Fidesz commemoration/rally. Police were criticized for their heavy-handedness in dispersing the crowd and for using telescoping steel batons, which are banned under Hungarian law.

And they are laywers?

"negligent homicide" when no-one died? They totally lost every piece of credit they ever had those "laywers", but this is Hungary, so any moron can become a "laywer" obviously.

They should also read up on the Hungarian Constitution on Executive Responsibility.
