New head for the Hungarian Constitutional Court

On June 10th, Péter Paczolay, vice-chairman of the Constitutional Court became its chairman after an anonymous voting session. The mandate of the current chairman, Mihály Bihari, expires on July 2nd, writes index.hu.

Bihari was chairman of the court for nine years, and Paczolay will in turn become the fifth chairman of the court. He was born in 1956 and is a constitutional lawyer, a political scientist and a university teacher.

Paczolay was elected to the Constitutional Court in 2006, after being its chief counselor between 1990 and 1996 and chief secretary beginning in 2000.
