ORTT demands monitoring of MTV show

The media watchdog body ORTT has ordered checks and controls of MTV’s daily morning discussion show “Nap-kelte” after a viewer complained that host István Verebes “unreservedly praised” former Budapest Police chief Péter Gergényi in an interview. Verebes told Gergényi that whoever sacked him had made a mistake.

Verebes also defended former Agriculture Ministry state secretary Fülöp Benedek, who is under investigation from the prosecutor’s office.
