Slovak prime minister blasts Orbán and Fidesz

The “extreme nationalist” party Fidesz headed by former prime minister Viktor Orbán creates problems in Central Europe, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said over the weekend. Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány does not pose a problem, he added.

Speaking on a political debate show on Slovak state radio, Fico said Fidesz presents a tremendous danger, as it could push the region into instability. This would happen, Fico said, if Orbán won the next elections and pursues his current policy toward Slovakia and the ethnic Hungarian minority there.

Fico also blamed Fidesz for the fact that a long-planned meeting between himself and Gyurcsány has not taken place.

Umm, this is the same Fico who invited a certifiably far-right party (SNP) into his coalition, the reason for which his party was suspended from the European Party of Socialists for over a year, right?
