Hungarian Socialists to visit U.S. Democratic convention

Hungary’s governing Socialist party (MSZP) will send delegations to congresses in the U.S. and in Austria in August, the daily Népszabadság reported on Wednesday.

A four-member delegation representing MSZP at the Democratic Party national convention in the U.S. will be headed by the leader of the party chairman’s office Mónika Lamperth and will include deputy floor group leader Attila Mesterházy, foreign affairs secretary Gyula Cserey and the prime minister’s campaign chief Zoltán J. Gál.

Lamperth told the paper that her party will also send a three-member delegation to the upcoming congress of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO). This delegation will include MEP Edit Herczog, MP Vilmos Szabó and foreign affairs advisor to the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office Ákos Komássy.
