Rather unexpectedly, not least of which is because of the potential for political suicide, the Democratic Forum (MDF) will submit a motion to dissolve parliament by September 30th, wrote index.hu. The decision comes on the heels of a tri-party meeting with Fidesz and the Christian Dems (KDNP). The decision is surprising due to the likelihood of the party dropping out of parliament in the next elections. Of course, it may all be a calculated bet that by being the first party to submit said motion, they’ll gain enough votes in the next elections, whenever they are. Furthermore, it could also be a decision to see if the Free Democrats are serious, and if not, to steal some of their base. Nonetheless, cucumber season in Hungarian politics is certainly over.
