Top-level delegations from the Socialist Party and the Free Democrats will meet for a second session of talks today. The first round was held two weeks ago.
At the previous meeting the Socialists were represented by party chairman Ferenc Gyurcsány, caucus leader Ildikó Lendvai, deputy chairmen Ferenc Juhász, Imre Szekeres and PMO leader Péter Kiss, while the Free Democrats were represented by chairman Gábor Fodor, caucus leader János Kóka, national council leader József Gulyás, deputy caucus leader Péter Gusztos and senior official Gábor Horn. The same officials are expected to hold talks today.
No agreement is expected to materialize, although some rapprochement is anticipated, according to Népszabadság. However Magyar Hírlap observes that the Socialist delegation intends to make the Free Democrats agree on a framework for future co-operation. The Free Democrats do not want to create the impression of “being stuck to” the Socialists, the right-wing daily added.
