Hungarian Guard splitting into rival factions, Népszabadság claims

Following the resignation of Hungarian Guard national commissioner István Dósa and several other leading members, chaos has gripped the radical rightist group, writes government-friendly daily Népszabadság. The daily has written that there are now two guards, with each blaming the other for the split.

After Dósa and the Guard’s leadership resigned, Gábor Vona, chairman of right-wing party Jobbik and the association which established the Guard, organized a national meeting where Róbert Kiss was elected as the new leader and disciplinary proceedings began against Dósa for “violating the service regulations on several accounts.”

Dósa thinks the majority supports him. He has been quoted by a far-right portal as saying, “If we get to that, we’ll simply hang our enemies but tear the traitors apart. Believe me, we’ll get to that!” He told Népszabadság he still agrees with these comments, but would prefer not to talk about the Guard for the time being.

Meanwhile, those who do not consider Róbert Kiss a legitimate leader of the Guard have re-elected Dósa, it was announced at a café next to the House of Hungarians on Tuesday. Dósa said the split seems very deep, but he believes the Guard will come out of the “catharsis” stronger and cleaner.

    Well, what did I say…
When the discussion started in the Spring of 2007 to start the Guard I warned my Jobbik friends that history has showed that it is very hard to create a military arm to a political party. It has a tendency to go its own way.
My Jobbik friends involved in the discussions are young and eager and thought they could administer away the problem by making Vona Gabor boss for both organisations, but it is hard.
Now Jobbik, who swallowed MIEP, created their own worst enemy, the split Magyar Garda.

    @viking
Magyar Guarda has not split, dont believe Népszabadság, its a media scam, this has brought us closer together and made us aware of the political left spies trying to split us, dont worry we will be around longer then your so called predictions.. stay tuned :-)

  3. Viking says:

Dosa – a “political left spies trying to split us”?
Seems like Vona Gabor have a problem judging people if a “political left spies trying to split us” can come so close. He made Dosa big wig.
What I always said – The hardest political fights are always inside a party/organisation, not with the perceived enemy.

words of Wisdom :-) ) Thanks mate!!

  7. KEF says:

@HotPap & Ricsi – Your money claim contradicts your earlier assertion that there is no split in the garda.

  8. hotpaprika says:

There is no split, because a leader has been expelled dosent mean there is a split, there is a new leader whom was democratically elected, now if this same tactic would have been applied to the current political party then the Magyar Guarda probably wouldn’t have even formed. It’s the lack of strong policies for Hungarians that created the Magyar Guarda.

  9. KEF says:

@Hot Pap – if you study and understand right wing groups, you’ll discover that only the top echelon is ideologically driven. The rest of the followers are usually driven by populism or charisma. The expulsion of any of the top ideologues are usually damaging to these fragile organizations simply because the strength of these organization come from the personal charisma of the leader (or co-leaders). As I understand, if Dosa is powerful enough to be “commissioner”, then it is hardly likely that he does not have his own power base. His followers even if they remain with garda will always be suspect(that’s the nature of extremist groups), and will probably lead to a schism within the garda.

    Dear KEf
They are not Ertremists! There legal voluntry National Guard, many countries have them, this group obeying the law , helping Hugarian people. The whole Magyar Garda is not motivated by one guy (Dosa) who was the leader, and he was not idolised like a extreme dictator, The Garda’s vision is so much broader then one man can ever be, it’s for better Hungary, and there proud to be Hungarian with ethics..

  11. Erik says:

So if the MG aren’t extremists, who is? Oh, let me guess: Gyurcsany and the Zionists.

  12. Ricsi says:

    Erik .
You like to come in with your one-liners and then disappear, but let me ask you a simple unbiased question : Tell me of ONE case were Magyar Gárda acted as “extremists”as you allege ???
Because they point out the hypocrisy of crime rates and aid been embezzled does not make them extremists, have you ever seen a parade of MG,just girls, boys, men ,women of all ages proud to help the country—no skin heads,neo-nazi thugs anywhere.

  13. Stan says:

We don’t need no stinkin’ Guard.
Give peasants shotguns and the legal right to shoot thieves and they’ll take care of themselves.

  14. KEF says:

I support Stan. I think the best solution is to allow anyone,(non-Hungarians included) to shoot all thieves here in Hungary. We would help in exterminating all those thieves who are stealing from the Hungarian state without bias. What would be left would be a pure, crime-free land with no undesirable elements (possibly also no Hungarians, but that’s a minor detail)

So finally we have more info on why Dósa was fired – He was against Vona Gabor’s idea to modify the trousers of the Magyar Garda with a ‘quick to open’ opening in the back.
Vona had promised his old buddy (wink, wink) Jörg Haider that, when Jörg visited Gabor last time for a quickie.
Dósa was said to be in contact with Jörg Haider’s old Party FPÖ, after FPÖ had attacked Jörg Haider as being homosexual. Jörg Haider has now a new Party, BZÖ, which all are ‘buddies’ with Jobbik.
