The missile defence shield to be stationed in the Czech Rep and Poland will be vital to the whole of European defence, said a leading Hungarian parliamentarian on European security matters after talks with Czech officials on Wednesday in Budapest.
Matyas Eorsi, head of parliament’s European and Security committee, held talks with Ladislav Svoboda, the deputy head of the Czech Senate’s defence and security committee, who headed a delegation.
After the talks, Eorsi told MTI that there are disagreements between the Czech political parties over the radar system for the missile defence shield, just as there are disputes over where to site a NATO radar in Hungary, but he personally supports it, since adhering to such as standpoint would strengthen the whole of European security.
Eorsi said he was encouraging Hungary’s government to support the goal of the Czech Republic to host the site of the Galileo global navigation satellite system headquarters, just as Hungary got support to host the EU’s technology centre in Budapest.
