Liberals renew calls for spending and tax cuts

The liberal opposition Free Democrats (SZDSZ) insist on public spending and tax cuts and introducing a cap on public spending, party leader Gabor Fodor said at Saturday’s National Summit.

Countries with stalled reforms and an oversized state are worse affected by the financial crisis, leader of SZDSZ’s parliamentary group Janos Koka said at the summit.

Protectionist policies have also had adverse effects, he added.

He called for stability, budgetary rigour and frugal state spending.
