Most Hungarians would support Democratic US presidential candidate Barack Obama, were they to vote in US elections according to a recent poll conducted by pollster Median, released on its website on Monday.
The poll found that 48 percent of its sample chose Obama and only 19 percent picked his Republican opponent, John McCain. Thirty-three percent, had no clear preference.
As far as knowing who the candidates were, about 70 percent of the sample was able to name at least one, and 43 percent were able to name both. Twenty-seven percent also knew their party affiliation.
Median conducted the poll on a representative sample of 1,000 voting age adults between October 27 and October 31.
Published every Wednesday, the Politics Hungary newsletter contains all the previous week's headlines from Politics.hu, as well as related stories from other All Hungary sites.
I wonder if most Hungarians would support a Roma man or women to be Prime Minister of Hungary.
Americans have come a long way in their struggle against racism Unfortunately, Hungarians have not been as successful.
@Joe. Let's see if he gets elected first.
I think this poll is a bit stupid. The reason Hungarians would vote for Obama is because he has better media coverage in Europe than McCain. I know people know don't even know who McCain is (amazing really considering the amount of US election news in the media).
Vote for Barack Obama! It'll give Hungarian speakers something to smile about thinking to themselves that the most powerful man in the world may be named after a fruit.
Vote Obama, for increased Hungarian comedy potential!
Demagogue wrote: "@Joe. Let's see if he gets elected first."
Even if Obama doesn't win, he has gone further in American politics than any Roma in Hungary.
The polls indicate that Obama will win. However, I think there are many Americans with masks. Once they get into the voting booth their masks will come off. The difference between racist Hungarians and Americans is that Hungarian racists don't even bother to wear a mask.
Hey guys....there's a lot more at stake here than racism! Small things like food in our stomachs, health care, housing, and a war in Iraq. Get over the racism thing already.
Hey elayne, those issues are always there. But would you not admit that this election is somewhat different because one of the candidates is not one of the usual white guys?
Mccain dosent even appear like a Human!! the way his mouth and body move is like he has someting stuck up his butt, or is some freak Android! Seriuosly have a closer look when he is making a speech! I dont support either one Obama or Mcain they are both controlled by AIPAC..
Joe
How naive of you, we all know MOST Gypsies are not interested in politics, that's why there votes can be bought ,the "beer money" scandal of 2006.
It is much easier to stay at home and collect the hand outs , they have as much opportunity to enter politics as anyone,in fact it is now easier, because if any body objected they simply play the "discrimination" card .But they are on the whole not really interested- they choose the easier life, perhaps in this way they are wiser than us ??? Food for thought !!
Joe has asked a very good question, one that I have wondered about myself. Can a Roma be elected to high office in Hungary?
Hungary has had to reinvent itself politically and economically as recently as 1989. The process that has enabled blacks to gain more acceptance in the US has been cooking since the 1960's. It has been long and gradual, and started with blacks being elected mayor etc. and from there upward. Hungary will also need a good 30 to 40 years. There has been a lot more legal continuity in the US compared to us. We are still making up our rules as we go along.
Where one is a legal citizen, ethnicity shouldn't matter, and the law should protect people equally and give them equal opportunities. That's the ideal. You don't always get it in real life.
The other thing the Americans know well is how to turn a society into a capitalist work-shop. Such a thing keeps people busy and hopefully distracted from old resentments. It doesn't always work, but there's still a lot to it. I'm not so sure Hungary meets the Anglo Saxon criteria of an efficiently work and capital-enslaved society! Do we have enough wealth and work to go around to distract people from hating others?
We are not a booming economic powerhouse; our political and legal institutions are relatively young and are still undergoing evolution. We need a good generation of peace, prosperity and a growing middle class. No Gypsy Prime Minister likely for now!
elayne-- How right you are !
and please note it was Joe who brought up this racism issue first--how sad.
Farkas Laszlo wrote: "Do we have enough wealth and work to go around to distract people from hating others?"
Of course! The only thing lacking is political will.
Look. I my life, I never thought an African-American could become president of the USA. I never thought homosexuals would be able to marry. I never thought mankind would walk on the moon. My, how things have changed! So why not Hungary?
Joe that is a nice thing to say. Of course I believe Hungary can change and evolve. Things will get better! What I want to see, and which I hope for, is that a new generation of Hungarians can have the fantastic luxuries denied to their Magyar ancestors: several decades of peace, personal freedom, absence of bad-guy invaders and oppression, economic freedom to go wherever opportunity knocks and a chance to become middle class! We can't and won't become a Switzerland overnight, but we won't be an Albania or Serbia either!
I fully agree with you, László.
Farkas Laszlo,
Thanks, its so good to read a positive message here. As for Switzerland - it would have been my solution to the ethnic problems in the Capathian basin - and maybe, once we are all middle class, a Europe of the regions may turn out to be the same thing.
Joe
What exactly are you wanting ???
We have Gypsy politicians (the leader currently in an embezzlement scandal,so he obviously learnt the game well )
We have that disgusting, pathetic, yearly "gay" parade (Do you see any "normal" sex parades ?? Why must queers flaunt it ??)
Hungary had an cosmonaut in space (not on the moon, admittedly)
You want a Gypsy PM ?? Show me on Gypsy politician actually interested or worthy of the job.
You people never cease to amaze me with your "why not Hungary ??" rhetoric--my answer is simple "Why should Hungary ???"
Good night
The western example of goverments have gone too liberal, look at the drugs, crime , crappy media etc etc etc, Hungary definately should not embark on modelling themselves after this example.
Farkas Laszlo
Usually your long winded comments make sense, but let us go through this one that Joe and AdrianD are fawning over.
Hungary as had several decades of peace, ever since 1957 to be exact, who have we been at war with since then ??
Hungarians have personal freedom since 1989, can vote and travel ,freely in the EU since membership.
Which bad guy as invaded Hungary since 1945 ?? (Not counting 1956 because the Soviets were already here as occupiers).
Hungary is in the Globalised world with little or no trade barriers,so Hungarians can go wherever opportunity knocks--look at the current brain drain and migrant work force.
Only your last point really hits home, thanks to crazy tax laws it is very difficult to break out and enter the middle class.
Am I painting a paradise ?? Of course not, because despite all of these "attributes" you seek,we are still bankrupt, saddled with a corrupt Government and tied into NATO and EU policies.
You can have all your wishes and still be in the shit for freedom and democracy is but an illusion.
Got to go now, got some land to buy in equally bankrupt Serbia LOL
I think some people misinterpreting and misunderstanding "racism" in Hungary. There are plenty of darker skinned people, calling themselves "Hungarian" and nobody objects it whatsoever, and 99% of the people accepts them as they are. Even the most radical "Jobbik Party"-s leader Gabor Vona has a dark complecity as well as Victor Orban from Fidesz and no one even asks whether he has Roma ancestor or not or why he looks the way he looks. The racism is exaggerated in the news pages and papers, the true radical racists are a minority, most people are upset about the government and their inability to deal with those Romas, who still live in 3rd world condition. It's Europe's hidden shame, not only Hungary.
Racism is just a label Gyurcsany and his clueless followers are trying to pin on Hungarians. It's easier for him and his gang to stay in power if he can pose as the "defender of minorities and human rights" while dividing the nation and sucking the blood out of it.
The truth is that you cannot expect someone who got bitten by 9 out of 10 snakes to have a very good opinion of them. Gypsies didn't turn bad because we don't like them, it's the opposite, we don't like them because most of us have bad experiences. Gypsies have a long tradition of staying outside of society, ignoring the laws, yet living off the host nation, either by stealing or by taking advantage of our misguided welfare system. This places an enormous burden on
the underpaid and overtaxed working members of our society. After we spend ridiculous amount of money to support gypsies it's not easy to be tolerant when they use their free time to rob us.
So before we start throwing labels around and calling everyone racist, let's look at the reasons why gypsies are not very popular. The government and lawmakers have no solution, they are not even familiar with the problem, so they just throw (our) money at it and hope it will get better. Of course trying to extinguish fire by spraying gasoline on it might not work too well, no matter how good the intention might be. Ignoring the issue by making the very real "gypsy crime" taboo will make it even worse.
Something must be done, the sooner the better.
Stan wrote: "Racism is just a label Gyurcsany and his clueless followers are trying to pin on Hungarians."
Care to show the good readers of this site where and when Gyurcsány has tried to pin Hungarians as racist? There's no need to do a lot of research. Just one site will be sufficient.
Hi Ricsi!
I'll be more brief this time. I view Hungarian history not just in terms of decades, but centuries. We haven't always had a good ride, that's for sure. Our bad periods can last a very long time. I hope that the good in our situation lasts, and improves for us. I hope it allows us to live up to our potential. There is no absolute freedom and independence, and certainly not for us. There are degrees of freedom or unfreedom, and it's always a work in progress.
I like the idea of buying in Romania! The Serbs might not respect a piece of paper!
@Ricsi: "got some land to buy in equally bankrupt Serbia". Well at least from Pécs you didn't have so far to travel.
In intially responding to this issue, I was discussing the theoretical possibility of a Gypsy PM, not necessarily a desire to see one! Right now the Hungarian people would want a leader they can relate to. If that can some day be a Roma, then so be it! (He would have to talk up a good game, that's for sure!) I reject notions of deep Hungarian racism ever preventing this possibility. People eventually vote with their pocket books, and will follow whoever makes sense to them.
Joe (uncle joe ??)
Yet again you seek sources and references, whilst the likes of Stan live in the real world--Go out more often and speak to local people ,you will have all the "sources" you need very quickly.
Do you really think the likes of Gyurcsany care about the Gypsies ?? It is simple another tactic to collect the votes.
Vándárló
It was a joke--of course I am not interested in buying outside of Hungary--I was been sarcastic towards Fárkas Lászlo, but he took it well.
Fárkás Laszlo
You always present a polite and dignified reply -thanks.
People will vote with the wallet (pocket book to our US readers) -So true.
Joe doesn't read the papers, don't watch the news and never goes out, except for the annual gay march. He loves any and all scumbag politician who pretend to care about the gay agenda.
If Joe could pay attention, he would have heard about the recent Gyurcsany shows, including the "Magyar Charta" and "Tarka Magyar" and so on.
How dare the unarmed Hungarian Guard protest peacefully against the widespread gypsy violence?
We can't have that - says Gyurcsany, we must protect the rights of all minorities, to hell with Hungarians. Well, at least we know what Gyurcsany wants: staying in power no matter waht the cost is to the nation. So that's what we have today...Fear and loathing in Budapest...
Nice try, Stan, but you didn't provide a single site that shows the good readers of this site where and when Gyurcsány tried to pin Hungarians as racist?
Care to try again?
Farkas Laszlo, once again you are polite and well reasoned, with an ever persuasive and forward looking vision. I salute you sir!
@elayne. Did I mention race or racism earlier? No. Your comment was meant for just Joe, surely.
@Joe. You seem to have misunderstood my comment. I was referring to the US elections being, at that point in time, undecided. As you rightly pointed out, and as many US elections have shown before, the polls can be an inaccurate reflection of which way people will vote on the day itself. Fortunately we now know the result. See my rant on pestiside.hu relating to this. Phew! Thank God it's all over at last. Normal world media service can now resume, even though the world will be a slightly poorer/richer place without Palin and here bizarrely funny/deeply disturbing redneck baiting. That is until she returns leading the Alaskan Separatists in 2012...
@Ricsi. Thank you for pointing that out earlier. The offer of that drink when you're in BP certainly stands.
My friends, Ricsi and Demagogue,
I appreciate your gracious compliment! A little disconcerting to me are those posts here, from non-Hungarians, which openly insult Hungarian intelligence and judgment. I for one, will not live up to their low expectations nor prove them right! I refuse to! (Actually many non-Hungarians think we are a cunning bunch of rocket scientists-a dream bubble I don't wish to burst for them!) I respect every regular contributor here as someone who cares for Hungary in their own way.
In my posts, I am attempting to remind us that we have "big fish to fry"! I like to raise the big issues that affect our future, as well as the strategizing that such challenges will call for. I am less interested in who is right or wrong, than figuring out "what to do" (and what the consequences are) and "what works"!
Minden jόt kivánok!
Demagogue
Only one drink ??? Don't be so tight fisted !!!
November 28th I am in Budapest if interested.
Ricsi, I'm flying out of Bp on the 28th, and I'm always sad to go, but knowing that I'm leaving when you'll be in town cheers me up just a little. Farkas Laszlo, _you_ are the shining light of sanity, a rare gem to be cherished, even though I do not share your optimistic outlook on Hungary's future. But you are all calm, hope and 'yes we can'; any interest in running for PM? If only you were an atheist lesbian gypsy woman, it would be a dream come true...and Ricsi&Stan's head would explode!(^_^)
FayeFaye
Why do you think my head would explode ?? What you do in your own home is up to you,it is when it is openly flaunted in the streets that I object to--remember this years "gay" parade where one "gay" publicly masturbated over the Bible--this is acceptable behaviour ???
Sorry to hear you are leaving, have a safe journey.
Hey Ricsi:
I would love to meet you for a few drinks. There is a club called Alibi that would be perfect. Check in the dark room, where I will be waiting to check the rigidness of your convictions.
Ricsi, I did not hear about that, but it sounds vile...I don't even like people dog-earing books. On heterosexuals flaunting their sexual preferences in public, about two summers ago I saw a girl giving a guy a blow job in full view in Tuzrakter, (or have you ever been on the Gellert hegy after dark?) but I suppose they were drug-addled liberal youths and not real Hungarians either. I suppose my point is that you shouldn't make hasty generalisations about an entire group of people based on one extreme example.
Kedves Faye Faye
Nagyon szépen köszönöm!
Faye, I too get pessimistic at times. This is not the place for me to air such sentiments, as I am always mindful of others. In this arena I feel words and attitude can matter and make an impact. Hungarians are too given to pessimism, fatalism and cynicism, and don’t need any further incitement from me on this account. We have a long and troubled history to live down, and we carry a lot of baggage from the past.
My greatest responsibility is to try and rally our spirits and offer up plans of action and possibilities. I like asking rhetorical questions that require us to think things through and weigh consequences. My inspiration for considering our national options and strategy is Machiavelli. I don’t believe in using him as a guide in personal relations, but when it comes to power politics at the international level, it’s foolish NOT to take him into account. All our national disasters, from the Tatar invasion to Trianon, were preventable- there was nobody in a high position smart enough to see it or capable of thinking ahead.
I want us to work with the world order that we now have, to our long term advantage. We don’t make the rules, nor do we run the show, but that doesn’t mean we should be powerless and without influence or success. What I think does hurt Hungarian pride is realizing to what extent we will have to go on working with greater powers, just to hold our own, let alone to really bust ahead.
(continued)
(continued)
We must get a grip on ourselves. Other countries have come up from a far worse set of circumstances than what we have now, and became prosperous. Many, if not most other nations are even lower down on the GDP totem pole than us, or have recently faced terrible traumas.
Prime Minister? I’m flattered, but no thanks. I would like to see Hungarians at all levels think more strategically. That is what my effort here is directed at.
Mr Farkas and Ms ? FayFay nicely said. A crime is a crime no matter who commits it, be they a Gypsy a Hungarian, or a ‘Pink and Purple People eater’. If you can do a particular job well then do it!
Odin's lost eye
What are you rambling on about crimes and gypsies for ???
I am talking about obscenities or public indecency.
FayeFaye is right to condemn the "public" blow job,but the liberals allowed this lack of decency by swamping the country with "public" porno etc... and every year this lurid cesspit of depravity called a "gay parade" Have you ever seen "normal" sexual people make a parade ??
First they destroy the national spirit by breaking patriotism and love for ones country, next they destroy the established faith,by allowing all the sects and cults and finally the family unit is destroyed by encouraging free sex, gays and porno ,no need for marriage, single parent support etc....
Heterosexuality is not normal. It's just common.
Joe--
Sarcasm not withstanding,it is you that is not normal mate !!
You know, Ricsi, not everyone has hangups about sex, gay or straight.
Have a look at this official ad for the city of Montreal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYgQNRUfsx0
Joe
Get it clear in your thick skull--I have no hang ups about straight sex,as for gay ,what you do in your bedroom is up to you Joe, I just do not want it openly flaunted in the streets.
Ricsi, Walk down Váci utca at night and you'll see heterosexuality flaunted openly, all the time.
Why the double standard?
#Joe
That is because the current liberal Commies arent enforcing the Law on the hookers and strip clubs!! You forgot to mention the Gays lingering around Nepliget park prostituting! Its the Liberal policies allowing this to Happen!! The current political party! both cases are not acceptable in society Gay and Hetro exhibitionists!!
Hey, Hotpaprika, I don't have a problem with either. Only those who had difficulties during toilet training have such hangups.
Joe,
Exhibitionism is a mental disorder. It can be treated. Seek help. Andrassy ut is not the place to act on your homoerotic fantasies. Do it in the privacy of your log cabin or anywhere in Montreal, see if I care...
Ricsi: "Show me on Gypsy politician actually interested or worthy of the job."
According to kuruc Orban Viktor is Gypsie. Good example?
I heard that next years Pride Parade will contain Special Performance from The Hungarista Fag Brigade. To honour the day the will wear pink-white Arpad-scarfs. This part of the Parade will be dedicated to Jörg Haider and his Hungarian 'counterpart' Vona Gabor.
This will prove that Hungary is coming out closer to one of the most Gay-friendly country in Europe - Austria.
@viking your a Tosser!
Stan wrote: "Andrassy ut is not the place to act on your homoerotic fantasies."
You just don't know how to make money, Stan. Have a look at the video from Montréal's Divers/Cité
http://www.diverscite.org/2008/francais/index.htm
Just click on Visionnez La Novelle Vidéo underneath the picture on the top, right hand corner, and see the celebration and the money this event generates.
And, by the way, Divers/Cité (Diversity) is not Gay Pride Week. That happens three weeks later!!
Because of Jobbik and other Neanderthals, Budapest is missing out on a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
Joe
What double standard ? I have said time and again that flaunting it in the street or public places is WRONG
Please learn to read English clearly before coming out with your homo sympathies.
Viking
Nice try,but like I said "show me a Gypsy worthy of the job" could it be any clearer ?
And I say Viktor Orban. "could it be any clearer ?"
Ricsi, I wasn't even condemning the public blow job, everybody around them found it damn funny - not the activity but how they were obviously convinced that they were dead subtle. I agree that there is a time and a place, but what do you mean about flaunting ones sexuality? I suppose if a nice white girl and boy are walking hand in hand or kissing in the park, that's OK, but if two boys do it, that's an abomination (or if two girls do it, they're just friends, even Queen Victoria said lesbianism isn't a crime, as it simply doesn't exist). You don't object as long as they stay in the closet...literally. And just what exactly is the 'national' spirit? Being Christian, having only hetero sex and only after marriage? Isn't it ironic how it is always the 'conservatives' who are the most concerned about what, how, and when people do in bed? Who are you to be the judge of what defines being Hungarian?
Viking
Just when I thought you were making progress, you disappoint me again.
I do not consider Orbán a worthy leader,Gypsy blood or no gypsy blood, CLEAR NOW ????
Keep up to date and read my comments correctly, you are quick to call me an "extremist" etc.. Why do you now assume I admire Orbán or consider him a worthy leader ??
FayeFaye,
I'm a big fan of hetero-sex, but would not think of participating in an obscene public display, like a hetero pride parade. Sex is a private affair, civilized folks like to keep it that way.
If you choose to ignore common sense and common decency just to annoy the majority, then you're asking for trouble. Tone it down a bit, don't push people's tolerance beyond the limit.
Can you do that?
Stan, I certainly can, haven't had any sex in a public place in years. I don't like "obscene public displays" either, the difference is that I don't find anything obscene about the gay parade. Heterosexuals don't need to go out in public and be vocal, because their way of life is institutionalised as the norm. It's just a bunch of girls and boys walking in a group holding hands with other girls and boys, and as long as they are not having a Caligula-style orgy on a playground the only way to see it as obscene is if you find what they do in private obscene. By toning it down you mean don't let anyone know they exist. If you're homophobic, at least take it to it's logical conclusion and don't come with this 'I don't care what they do behind closed doors' crap, it just makes no sense.
@Stan - why would a hetero pride parade be considered obscene? The way I see it, it would only be men and women marching together, or on floats.
Anonymous,
A peaceful march is not obscene, it's just a pointless waste of time and taxpayer money.
The obscene part comes with the "parade", which usually a form of exhibitionism and a graphic display of almost naked men trying to have sex with each-other, ignoring the laws of nature.
That's disgusting and annoying, why would you want to do that?
Ricsi: "Why do you now assume I admire Orbán or consider him a worthy leader ??"
Official Jobbik-policy, that is why. Jobbik do not speak out what Jobbik *really* thinks about Orban, not to scare away traditional (= right, non-jew/roma) Fidesz-voters.
Stan: "A peaceful march is not obscene, it's just a pointless waste of time and taxpayer money."
It is up to you what you do with your time and you should give other people the same right.
Taxpayer's money? Which, for Policing? The why do we allove Sports at all and these Magyar Garda things. How much has not the Radical Right costed the Hungarian State Budget since 2006? Several Billions of HUF, but that is of course not a problem?
Ricsi dont waste your energy on convincing these Liberal Commie bastards, they are in another paradigm... All they do is try and suck you in then demoralise you.. there friggen scum !!especially Viking Adrian and Uncle Joe.. there genitic misfits!!
Viking,
Ask your doctor to give you some pills for your attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
I did not say I want marches and demonstrations banned. I don't even like the word "ban" too much, it's been frequently abused.
I simply stated my opinion about how pointless these events are. There are too many small groups with the overwhelming desire to hold up traffic. I don't think having a demonstration of any kind will have any positive effect, they are just plain annoying. This includes left and right, jobbik and ball-lick, "tarka" and "charta", etc. If you really want to make a difference and cannot outsmart politicians in power, then line up a million people who aren't afraid of water cannons and tear gas, and make them walk steadily in the same direction. If you cannot do that, then you're wasting time and money.
Stan, not being Hungarian I do not want to spend the TaxPayer's money on any extra medication. I know it is something new for you, but that is just how we North-European ex-Pats are.
Viking,
Don't worry about the cost, put the meds on my tab. I'm such a great person, always help the less fortunate. You just missed another opportunity to get some much needed and free education. Read my posts carefully, if you don't understand something, ask a grown up with a measurable IQ.
Stan: "A peaceful march is not obscene, it's just a pointless waste of time and taxpayer money."
Still no answer on the question on how it is a waste of "taxpayer money". Maybe you should try your own medicine first?
Viking,
All demonstrations cost money. Got to pay the Gestapo to close down streets and beat up folks,
not to mention the time and fuel wasted in traffic jams. Do you know how much one of those Israeli import water cannons cost? How about transportation, housing and overtime paid to cops? Guess who pays for all that.
Next question...
Of course, but that is the price of Democracy.
Aahh, forgot, you do not belive in Democracy. Obviously you believe in Sports, otherwise you would tell us what a waste of time and taxpayer's money that would be. All those Police resources needed for a few 100 hooligans, but WTF it is Sports.
Viking,
"Of course, but that is the price of Democracy".
No, that's the price of stupidity.
Democracy, even if it existed, it would not work. What we have is a puppet show.
A puppet show, that would be great, Gyurcsany beating Orban with a frying pan across the aisle...I'd watch that. I love people talking about the government as if it was some separate entity grown in a tank completely removed from us, 'people'. They didn't come to power by electoral fraud or a military coup, we (you and me) voted them into parliament. These are the only people in a country of ten million who showed any interest in running it. Yes, they are corrupt, petty and inept, but they proved to be the best on offer on the ballot paper, so what does that say about the rest of us? Of course democracy doesn't work, because it represents the will of the majority of people - and people are mostly stupid, know very little about economy and are governed by short-term self-interest - it just works better than anything else. I for one would like to live in a benevolent dictatorship, run by a planet-sized AI...I would also like a robot butler and a flying car.
@FayeFaye: Exactly. In a democracy, people get the politicians they deserve.
Not the case when there caught liying morning noon and night then they should be exiled!! It goes to show who the sheep are (Faye and Van!)
@Hot Pap - Hungarians bought Gyurcsany's bullshit, just like you and Ricsi are buying Jobbik's bullshit.
UC
I meet with MZSP and liberal minded people and have come to the conclusion they are not for the interests of Hungarians, they have no idea how dangerous the Liberals are locally and Globally.. And with my Loving intiutive heart and experience I know who is genuine and who is influenced by the Liberal propaganda in the media. Jobbik's overall vision for better Hungary for the majority of Hungarians is the unveiling of the Truth ..It's an enormous battle on our hands to defeat these leeches sucking the last bit of wealth and spirit out of the Hungarian nation, but Jobbik has the Heart and courage to take on this challange..
"Jobbik's overall vision for better Hungary for the majority of Hungarians is the unveiling of the Truth"...the majority of Hungarians happen not to agree, or Jobbik would have the governing majority in parliament. According to this article http://www.politics.hu/20081110/poll-finds-near-majority-of-hungarians-dislike-all-political-parties only 7% of voters said that Jobbik represents their views. As long as you believe in democracy, you are entitled to your opinions but have to accept that that is not the direction the country wants to take.
@Hot Pap - From all your posts, one could in all fairness conclude, that it is also possible that you have come to the wrong conclusion. Just as you have come to the conclusion that they are not right for Hungary, it is also reasonable that Faye Faye (as a Hungarian) could come to the conclusion that you are not right for Hungary. Meeting people and assessing them is superficial by itself. You need to know what to look for, and how to assess their sincerity and abilities (and possibly also a knowledge of economics) Not everyone has this skill. Populist parties rely on people lacking this skill, to stir outrage among the common people, and throw in an agenda which sounds good until one think about its weaknesses. Your agenda is very radical to me, simply because Jobbik plans often fails economic rationality on several fronts. I'm not even commenting on their political or social plans which frighten Hungarians more than your "sucking wealth" theory.
So, wouldn't it make sense to improve your/Jobbiks programs (or at the very least your PR) to make it more palatable to the general public. What have you gained from having people oppose you even before you've won (started). You've lost Faye Faye even before you started.
Jobbiks growth at every public meeting and demonstration has been on the increase, and more people are disatisfied with both Orban and Gyurcsany(cockaroch) which isn't rocket science! Both have sucked upto the west!
The 1956 commemerations were the largest out of all the people attending on the day at Erzsebet square!
Once we get into parliament you will see some positive changes, our campaign is a lot tougher because we havent the media on our side, like the pro Liberal scum!
Our mission is Parliament! Realiatic goals! and the surveys aren't worth a pinch of shit because of the manipulation of media here in Hungary! Especially this site and some of the biased Liberal articles..
@UJ
I never had Faye in the first place, I could sense from her posts that she was not genuinely interested in right views for Hungary, just that she had a fantasy of living like the Jetsons!! and anyone who has global awareness and who is aware of who is dictating from behind the scenes knows where I am coming from, I'm not wasting my time sweet talking any Sheila that is on the same wave length as me, there are many other candidates who have our vision!!
Uncle Joe, he had me at Hello.;) As someone pointed out earlier, there is no point in arguing with the 'liberal scum' because we exist in different paradigms. It is very perceptive and makes these threads so tiresome, because noone here is undecided and open to be convinced, even if the arguments were rational. I recently heard someone on the radio arguing that the internet is not a tool for democracy, it is just mindless chatter that devalues informed debate. While I don't agree with this without reservations, he's got a point. I know; I'm here because I like the sound of my keyboard clattering. HP, I knew you were going to claim media bias, but I thought I let you come up with it yourself. You really shouldn't dismiss the West in its entirety, you have so much to learn from FOX news!
But HP, that is what campaigning is about, I am exactly the type of person you would have to convince, with your 7% popular support it won't be enough to just steal the independent voters. And since I am in the majority, as yet, you would have to accommodate my species in your new world order, if we all emigrated you would have nothing left to play with. Again, see what happened in the West: the Republicans tried the 'our supporters are the real America' line and it completely backfired. And that is why you will never be in parliament unless the world descends into an Orwellian hellscape. And seriously, who would not want to live in the Jetsons?!
@Faye We are already in Orwellian Hell and have been for quite a long time.. The Jobbik terms wouldn't be so bad as you are lead to believe... I must admit miracles do happen and you might get the Aha experience, but not in this lifetime, I reckon you are too absorbed in being liberal Trendsetter!! Jetsons well there are too many programmed robots around the planet already! Instead of focusing on fantasy I believe we should be searching within ourselves and reawakening our true purpose in life.
Oh. My. God. You have THE answer! What is our true purpose in life? Is it to live in harmony with Mother Earth and love one another? Is it? Is it?
@ Faye
Unfortunately you have a long way to go! But not in this lifetime!
But in what direction?! You cannot leave me hanging like this...
:-) your vibrating in the wrong direction, you need some serious healing!!
Vibrating? This conversation is disintegrating so I should let it go, but I'm genuinely curious what do you think ones true potential is and what direct steps do you suggest I should to take to achieve it? Agree with you unconditionally for a start? And if you could garble your syntax a bit more to sound like Yoda, that would be great.
Faye I suggest you do I was refering to a spiritual vibration, not physical, however this forum is not the appropriate place to discuss this topic. By the sounds of it you are a movie junkie and it has made serious imprint on your state of consciousness.. You need a major Ego overhaul, but your not the only one!
HotPaprika.
Why are you chasing this FayeFaye all over the forum ?? Are you after a date or something ?? Invite her to join us in BP,maybe we can "convert" her !!
@Ricsi
Shes the one nipping at my heals mate :-) I swear we will have to conduct an exorcism if whe shows up..
I know, the obnoxious gobby dame and the grumpy, macho hero always totally hook up by the end of the movie, after he mowed down 500 gypsies with a roof-mounted machine gun...I'm sure HP's intentions are entirely honourable (complete intellectual submission) and I just like winding him up. But a date? No thanks, you guys scare me, frankly.
Faye
I new there is no hope for you in this lifetime, too many Schindlers List movies and George Jetson cartons have affected you sub conscious, and God only knows how many Mills and boon books you have read.. Honestly you are a prime candidate for a programmed consumer of the NWO, which is more real then what you have been exposed too..but i still love you unconditionally possum!
HP, did you just call me a possum?! Is that an Australian insult/endearment? You confuse me, are yous some hippie-right-wing cross-breed? Has Ricsi been feeding you organic lentils? Ok, ok, don't answer that, be the man and break this hellish cycle of 'no, you hang up'. But Mills and Boon, really?! Namaste
Faye
Now being right wing is not as warped as your imagination is projecting.
Possum is a good thing so dont panic it isn't on the restraunt menu in Australia, not any that I have dined inn. So you dabble in Yoga!? I suggest you resaerch Sanskrit in depth that would begin your healing process!
There is nothing wrong with being right-wing, and when a country is functioning properly the difference between mainstream right and left is mostly imperceptible. Maybe I should have said far-right? What always shocks me is that in Hungary mainstream right-wing politicians use rhetoric that in most places would be strange coming out of the mouth of far-right nationalists (or far-left politicians for that matter, they keep calling everyone communist but they're crazy about free education and health-care, how does that work?). I haven't studied politics or history at a university level, and political labels confuse me. I'm of average intelligence and watch the daily news, so I am probably safe to assume that I am not unusual in this respect. You keep on calling me a liberal for example, but which one? E.g. classical liberalism sounds more like conservatism to me, and Maggie Thatcher had been called a neo-liberal...in fact the Hungarian rights insistence on high government intervention, curtailed personal freedom and mistrust of free markets sounds pretty communist to me, with a bit of Christianity thrown in. I guess my point was how can you profess universal love and spirituality (not faith)and be homophobic? Or am I confusing you with Stan? In which case I apologise, said my memory, amongst other things, is shit.
Now Right wingers in the Jobbik party have a cross section of beliefs also they have Christian morals and if you study theology all religions have similar path just that politicians and Elite have used it to divide and rule, a bit like the carton movie “Ants” which no doubt you have seen from my observation from your comments.
But if you step back and look at the global state of affairs in the last century,
just to keep it in perspective, the wars the financial crisis is an industry for the elite and once you begin to put the puzzle together without even being associated with any political party you begin to see the reoccurring patterns in history and it seems like a never ending chaos, at which many people are made to feel like it’s a hopeless battle, exactly what the elite want you to feel and this is an ongoing process in which they want to keep the people in a lower vibration, now what I have scene is History is always been written by the victors and even if not true it becomes mainstream in our educational institutions and media publicize and control the flow of information.
I don’t know about you but I sure don’t believe in living a lie especially when I can see laws being introduce to jail people if they speak up about certain Historical events that clash with the majorities view which has been programmed into generations of innocent people by the elite, who sit back maintaining this process of Lies to the public. Now I don’t want to live this lie and don’t just want to be part of society keeping up with the Joneses especially when it’s all an illusion. What I have also noticed who is behind this elite manipulation which goes back centuries of cunning demons. I would like to go into more depth of the whole spiritual side of these entities but this forum would get blown away by the theory.
However to cut a long story short, we are living a radical life by being asleep to what the elite are doing and made to feel that we are in a hopeless state of affairs, and the Jobbik party are aware of this and have the courage and determination to expose the Elite who are causing the chaos. That’s why the media have continuously labeled them
Right wing radicals, because they don’t want you to know what is the TRUTH!!
The Jobbik are not interested in Germany Nazi regime, and oppose the Germans manipulation of Hungarians in there history, they are fully aware of the version of history that went down in the Carpathian basin, why should we have foreigners writing this? for us the whole version is a scam to make us feel like we are barbarian pagans and were cultured by the western Europeans, what rotten lies.
RE: "and the surveys aren't worth a pinch of shit because of the manipulation of media here in Hungary! Especially this site and some of the biased Liberal articles.."
I just found this glancing over the party manifesto on jobbik.com: "By 2008 the now independent Jobbik – Movement for a Better Hungary is at 7%, according to the polls. " Interestingly, the same figure politics.hu quoted. Polls aren't so shitty after all, are they?
Faye
Yes! however the survey was approx 7 months ago and many more people have become dissatisfied with Orban and Ference since the survey, and through my observations through attending public meetings and demonstrations there has been approx 3 to 4 times more people attending, especially since Dr Krisztina Morvai also has come on board, the campaigning in the regional areas have increased also attracting the votes there as well.. So we are going to brin a Szebb Jovot :-)
Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.
