The prime ministers of the Visegrad Four — Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia — and the three Baltic states discussed the ongoing financial and economic crisis, an energy and climate package and relations with their eastern neighbours in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico proposed setting up a Central European development bank, and invited his counterparts to the Bratislava celebration of Slovakia’s euro entry on January 8.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk invited the summiteers to a celebration on June 4, 2009, marking the 20th anniversary of the collapse of Poland’s communist regime and the first free elections.
The seven prime ministers emphasised that their countries would like to play a greater role in devising EU measures aimed at surmounting the global financial and economic crisis.
