Nearly 40% of Hungarians participating in a recent voter survey were unwilling to give more than middling marks to any political party, while over 30% indicated they agreed with only one of the many parties currently active.
According to findings of a Századvég-Forsense poll, summarized by Index.hu, conservative opposition party Fidesz leads the list based on agreement with parties’ views, just as it does the list based on support, while the liberal SZDSZ is disliked as much as far-right Jobbik.
Respondents graded parties on a 1 to 5 scale, where “1″ meant they feel the party’s views are very far from theirs and “5″ that they are very close. Among participants, 39% refused to give a score of more than “3″ to any party, while 31% gave “4″ or “5″ to only one party. The results were similar to those measured in May.
Last month, Fidesz was the party with the highest level of public support, and it leads the list based on perceived harmony with voters’ views as well, with 31% of respondents giving it a grade higher than “3.” The governing Socialist Party (MSZP) received a grade of “4″ or “5″ from 23% of those polled, opposition party MDF from 9%, SZDSZ and Jobbik from 7%, far-right MIÉP from 5% and communist Munkáspárt and environmentalist party Élőlánc from 3%.
