Hungary’s parliament has approved changes to the law on public order, tightening punitive measures for vandalism and hooliganism, an MP for Hungary’s governing Socialist party told the press on Tuesday.
Under the new law, throwing food at a person is classified as an act of violence, even if it causes no injury.
Under another provision, disrupting the service of a public transport vehicle or any other public service or authority action will be considered an offence.
Parliament voted on the changes on Monday, with 210 MPs in favour, 162 against and 6 abstentions.
The changes are in reaction to a succession of public order offences and street violence over the past couple of years. Some of the violence surrounded anti-government protests while other incidents were in connection with anti-gay demonstrations involving football hooligans and people associated Hungary’s radical elements.

Good! Finally the government is finding ways to deal with these hooligans.
Sooner or later these scum will get the message that they are a small minority and that they have to respect the rights of other citizens, whether they like them or not.
Why don’t they introduce laws on the real criminals like IMF, Gypsy crimes and sexual obscenity in public by gays and Lesbos.. There too pre occupied with petty demonstrations!
Slowly but surely our civil liberties are been removed. For those praising this form of police state action–one question to you–Please tell me of any serious civil disorder instances before 2006 when our current “leaders” (the instigators of these new laws) where revealed to have “lied day and night to the people”
They caused this problem, they allowed this problem and now they offer you the solution to this problem–You idiots are really been fucked over in the name of ” democracy”.
Wait a second… in Hungary they are hooligans… the same people doing mess in other country are just innocent hungarian fans??? how is that?
This won’t suffice. It will just calm down some of the most primitive riots. Hungarian parliament has to adopt strict law against organized groups jeopardizing sovereignty of neigbouring countries. Including existance of radical political parties.
Ricis wrote: “Slowly but surely our civil liberties are been removed.”
How is stopping you from vandalism, throwing food at me or you stopping public transport vehicles removing your civil liberties? Do you believe you have the right to do those things? In a civilized society?
Joe
Peaceful, non destructive strikes and demonstrations are a basic fundamental of democracy–sorry you did not know this.
Throwing an egg can not hurt you (except your pride)
stopping a train or bus service can not kill you .
But again you and your ilk fail to address the most simple question–Since when did these “troubles ” start ?? Since the “great lie” of 2006 ! I keep asking on here for anybody to tell me when there was a violent demonstration in Hungary from 1957 to Gyurcsány’s great lie in 2006 –Any violent demo ??? (please not football hooliganism-I am talking political)
This is by its very nature a peace loving country, but when you piss off the people too much they will reach boiling point –how many times do you need to witness this ?
So what’s your problem with Gyurcsány? He said that politicians lie.
Do you doubt that? And just because he told the truth is no excuse for your right-wing nut-jobs to create havoc on the streets of Budapest whenever they feel like it.
Joe
What a paradox–you admit he lied, then say he told the truth because he admitted the lie ????
You Sir are a perfect example of the problems facing societies everywhere,a naive person unable to think for himself, blind to reality. so sad …
Too bad your ability to grasp larger issues in life is lacking, Ricsi.
Do you believe Gyurcsány lied when he said they lied? “They” being the political class.
I’m sure you lap up every bit of nonsense Jobbik says and hold it dear to your heart.
Like I keep saying Joe,you are just too naive !
Good night, for I refuse to waste more precious time on such fools this glorious evening–We have a bottle of excellent Villányi red to drink in the cool evening on the farm !!
So you won’t or can’t answer the question. How typical.
By the way, I’ll be sharing a nice bottle of red Chilean wine with my partner. So there.
Ricsi: “Throwing an egg can not hurt you (except your pride)”
So, you will help to pay my fines after I have throw some eggs on Gabor Vona (Jobbik leader)?
As a true Democrat you will of course defend everyone’s right to Free Egg Throwing, right?
Viking,
“So, you will help to pay my fines after I have throw some eggs on Gabor Vona (Jobbik leader)?”
Sure, why not.
Go ahead, let’s see if you throw like a girl.
Don’t forget to post a video of your adventure, we can always use a good laugh.
Throwing anything at someone else is an assault, stopping buses, tramcars etc is obstruction of the peoples highway. These are offenses under the law and not the expression of free speach. ‘Nuff said’
Odins lost Eye
Sometimes you have to throw things when confronted with liars, thieves and corrupt ineptitude–Remember Molotov cocktails against Soviet tanks in 1956, Remember French resistance,Yugo partisans against Nazi invaders in 1944/45 ??
Are you saying they should have stayed at home and respected the law even though it was working against them ?
Yes you will no doubt say that they where under occupation, but SO ARE WE, under the occupation of a dishonest administration that as lied and cheated and sold out its own people and nation to the real “masters” be that the EU Constitution(Treaty of Lisbon) NATO, ,multis,IMF,Zionists etc…All groups with self interest.
You might be a subdued “sheep” but many more people every day are realising that if “you sacrifice your liberty for security, you will lose both !”
Here is another simple lesson for you-”People who shut their eyes to reality simply invite their own destruction”
Or a bit of Goethe–”None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free ”
Sometimes you have to fight !!
Ricsi,
“Are you saying they should have stayed at home and respected the law even though it was working against them ?”
I think that they had more significant reasons than this for not respecting the law. You can’t resonably reject any law that works to your disadvantage. People that habitually do this are called criminals.
One man’s terrorist/criminal is another man’s freedom fighter.
Of course I can never agree or promote football violence or shear wanton destruction, but I am all for politically motivated action.
Ricsi,
“but I am all for politically motivated action”
Do you support the 7/7 attcks by British muslims on British commuters?
Adrian is trying to be funny again:
“Do you support the 7/7 attcks by British muslims on British commuters?”
Obviously not. Civilized people don’t do these things, only Irish or Bask or Muslim.
Americans and Israelis prefer killing innocent civilians from airplanes, and call it retaliation or occasionally an honest mistake.
Now if your country is occupied by a US supported Israel for example, and they are screwing you on a daily basis, you may get frustrated and desperate. You are in no position to put together an army capable of fighting them, but you’re tremendously pissed and your religion happens to support suicide bombing, what do you do?
I don’t approve their actions, I don’t even like terrorists of any kind, but I cannot put all the blame on them. And now we’re back to a previous subject, mixing races and religions. “British Muslims”? If Musims would live in Muslimia and we would just leave them alone, it would cut down on such attacks.
Introduce common sense to security (racial profiling) and you no longer need to push all of Europe and the US into an Orwellian surveillance society. Unless of course that was the goal in the first place, and terrorist attacks came handy to create paranoia. If you look at it, terrorists didn’t benefit from their bombings too much, guess who did?
Stan,
“Introduce common sense to security (racial profiling)”
On of these British muslims was Afro-carribean, not usually islamic or terrorists.

Though admittedly black.
Northern Ireland’s terrorists were as white as me, how would racial profiling helped here? Or with Basque terrorism in Spain?
I really feel for that, every time I’m padded down at the airport after having queued for 45mins through security I’m screaming in my head ‘Unless you can point to a single terrorist attack carried out in Britain by a 5’3″ white girl get your hands the f*ck off me’. I see their point but it’s hard to remain aloof when it encroaches on ones personal convenience.
Fayefaye,

Just be happy they only frisk you.
I knew you’d come up with someone from the IRA (the only likely candidates, really)…I said I know there’s good reason for it, but god, I hate sweaty strangers touching my boobs!
