Police said to be implicated in MP corruption case

Former Socialist MP János Zuschlag said he was able to “contain the police” investigation into his alleged fraud through former Baranya police chief Péter Lusztig, according to a tapped telephone conversation with fellow defendant András Õri that was played in Kecskemét municipal court yesterday.

Another defendant, István Lados, told the court that the prosecutor’s office had brought the delayed investigation into its purview after police “practically sabotaged” the inquiry. Zuschlag and several others are accused of misuse of public funds.
