Gyurcsány offers nominee for transport minister

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany will nominate Csaba Molnar minister of transport, MTI was informed from sources close to the government on Tuesday.

Gyurcsany has informed the board of the minority governing Socialist Party about his decision.

Outgoing transport minister Pal Szabo resigned after a train accident near Budapest on October 6 which claimed the lives of four people. Gyurcsany accepted his resignation on condition that Szabo should stay in office until his successor was appointed.

Molnar, aged 33, is a state secretary at the economy ministry. He is Gyor-Moson County chairman of the Socialist Party and deputy chair of the Hungarian Progressive Society.
