In news that will really piss off the Hungarian right, and not just the far-right, the “controversial” (i.e. beloved by nationalists) turul statue in District XII was recently vandalized, hirtv.hu reports, complete with video. Incredibly, the phrases “Long live [Slovak Prime Minister Robert] Fico!” and “Kill Hungarians” were written on the base in some kind of red paint. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which no doubt has probably also infuriated the statue’s opponents, who can’t cheer that the statue was defaced because of what was actually written on it. Which to be honest sort of leads one to suspect that whomever did the vandalizing was maybe neither a Slovak nor a domestic hater of the bird. Convoluted!
Did Slovaks really vandalize District XII Turul statue?

And the next attack will be in Wienna, than they will attack in Prague than in Poland because all of these countries are faking history and doing wrong for poor innocent Neoslavia who’s only fault were to elect an ultra nationalist natzi governement… Just encourage these pan-slavic terrorists your western liberals and one nice day you’ll wake up in Great Slavia with your toung deep in Szarosputtony’s ass D) not if you would not deserve…
Robi
You are letting your bitterness spoil your comments—Prague is a slavic city and Poland is a slavic nation also, not just Slovakia.
Looks like Robi tosses salad : )
Whose ONLY FAULT was to elect a neo-NAZI government?????? How sick are you????

@elayne first of all let me thank you for your
selfdescribing low level personal comment… Slota
and Fico are in the gornement what are you talking
about? It is like MIEP would govern in Hungary…
My friends,
Long I’ve been looking for a way to discuss these issues with the Hungarians, openly. It is horrifying, where our relationships have ended up.The question is,however, who is interested in improving them, without causing unreasonable disadvantage to the other.
I am deeply convinced, that the never-ending dispute between us,has slim chances for a breakthrough,as the fundamental problem seems to be the wrong perception of our common history based,I guess, on history education, influenting any and all of our later developed opinions in this matter.
I have aplenty hungarian ancestors same as german-who of us doesnt? -but I live here happily and this has never been an issue for me. I have lots of hungarian-ethnic friends same as german, ruthenic, czech etc.Even I am half hungarian, I see myself as Slovak,I dont speak hungarian, but my most favorite city is surely Budapest, that I find to be the city of my dreams and love returning to.
However,no matter to what is in our books- I can understand that you are still focused on Trianon, even if this is really not a measure of the 21st cent.
What I feel I must say, however,is that you guys seem to forget something that is undoubtable: you annexed our territory and tried, for hundreds of years,to assimilate our little nation, under violence and pressure.I am not sure how much you know about this? I dont want to hurt anyone who, objectively, doesnt know.We say we dont want to return to history and we dont.I CONTINUE IN NEXT CONTRIBUTION
But,given all what we have faced in 1000 years, and maily in the last 100, could ask for a little more good will, understanding and selfreflection from the part, that has produced this almost forevergoing violence,EVEN excused by the then-normal historic habits, especially when trying recently to introduce the very same principles towards the counterpart.
We recognize at least 5 major-player minorities here that are hardly getting the attention and funds the hungarians do,yet it seems not to be enough.I find it very unfair to them, since we are all the same and no one should take advantage of the other.
I do recognize that the words of Slota are unacceptable, but he is just one drunken idiot that does certainly not represent the nation,PLEASE!This can not even be a matter of discussion.Or if so,did Hungary send armed forces also to Austria, when they elected Haider? Dont think so.
And to the comment that other neigbours dont like us,Robi.Cmon.We have absolutely strategic partnership with CZ and 1000-year-no-single conflict relationship with Poland. Our artists, actors and singers are bestsellers in these countries and our interpreneurs make fortune there.Your source of information has apparently failed in this regard.
I COULD TALK ABOUT THIS FOR DAYS,BUT PLEASE- the only thing I ask you,is to be objective, selfreflecting and of good will.If we can look at the past and present based on pure facts, we will realize, that as there is no reason for conflict and we can live in friendship.
I have a lot like Prague. Although it does not seem to have this much in common. I recommend her first visit and see the architecture.
