The opposition Free Democrats should vote against the government’s 2009 tax bills, the party’s parliamentary group leader Janos Koka said on Sunday.
The Free Democrats have supported the 2009 budget only to prevent an even bigger crisis, but bad tax laws should not be endorsed, Koka said, adding that he will tell the group on Monday to vote against the Socialist tax proposals.
The government’s proposals do not reduce the tax burden and nor do they simplify the tax system, Koka said.
In the current crisis, where tens of thousands of jobs have been lost already, Hungary must improve its competitiveness in the region by lowering taxes, he added.
Hungary will be the last in the region after the Czech Republic, Romania and Austria, to do so, said Koka.
Kóka on tax is always interesting. Wonder if his house is finished (illegal workers) or he is going to throw any more parties (and pay for it sans tax). What he says is true, but the Free Democrats should find a spokes person who isn’t a running economic joke.
Mr. Kóka must know… he has a HUGE part in
this…
