Gyurcsány congratulates ethnic Hungarian party in Romania on election

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany on Tuesday phoned leader of Romania’s ethnic Hungarian party RMDSZ Bela Marko to congratulate him on RMDSZ’s result in the weekend parliamentary election, the Hungarian government spokesman’s office told MTI.

Gyurcsany welcomed that RMDSZ — according to preliminary results — has not only retained but strengthened its position in Romania’s parliament.

The Romanian election office on Tuesday announced that RMDSZ received 6.17 percent of the votes for seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 6.39 percent of the votes for the Senate.
