Mixed reviews at Prime Minister's book signing

gyurcs-signs.jpgPrime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány signed copies of his new "blog book" at a bookstore on Budapest's Nyugati tér last Wednesday, reports Index.hu. In addition to 100 to 150 die-hard fans and around two dozen protesters, the event drew such political celebrities as former Socialist minister Mónika Lamperth and talkshow-host-turned-aspiring Euro-Parliamentarian István Vágó. As Gyurcsány signed up to five books for each of his faithful readers, the protesters hurled abuse at both, though no one was hurt except for the trees killed to print the PM's previously online-only musings.

As for why Gyurcsány made the somewhat odd decision to publish his blog in book form, apparently the answer is that he was encouraged by some commenters on the site. Then again, it was revealed at the event that his blog isn't as "bloggy" as previously thought: he doesn't post his entries himself but "records his thoughts" on tape and then has a flack edit and post them.

No word on whether there will be a movie version of the book.

What a great way to waste your hard earned Forints on in the middle of a recession.
On second thoughts--a great Christmas present for someone you really want to upset !

Did anyone see the HirTV bulletin about this,in which an old lady supporter stood up to shout at the protesters ?? Classic-- "I am a communist and proud of it....." she went on,causing ex-commie Gyurcsány to cringe and shrink into his chair.

If it was on HírTV, I can well believe she was a plant...
But even she wasn't, surely you aren't suggesting that if someone has one supporter who believes something, then he himself must have the same belief? Where are we, primary school?

In the US, most KKK members vote Republican, I'm told...

Ah ! Here come the excuse makers, so predictable and so pathetic.

TDS, I think you got it wrong there. The old lady is only an example of that hard core OAP Socalist supporter base that has no clue whatsoever what they are actually supporting. Mind you, these pensioners are just about the largest fan base of Gyurcsány now ... which is kinda telling.
