More suspects named in Liberal party election fraud case

The number of SZDSZ politicians named by the Budapest Police as suspects in a document forgery case related to leadership elections for the Liberal party held last year has risen to seven, writes Fn.hu, based on a (print only) report by Magyar Nemzet.

Five delegates from Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County and two from Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County have been named as suspects. The deadline for closing the investigation in the case is the middle of this month but it can be extended, police and prosecutors said.

At last year’s part chairman elections, “fake delegates” and individuals who had no voting rights also cast their ballots. As a result, following a tie between the two candidates, János Kóka was elected as chairman in the second round.
