List of “honorees” in suppression of ’56 uprising published

A list consisting of the names of two thousand people who received awards for crushing Hungary’s 1956 anti-Soviet uprising was made public by the October 23rd Committee Foundation, index.hu reports.

People on the list were recipients of awards granted after the revolt by the Worker-Peasant government of János Kádár, or in some cases, other awards that the October 23rd Committee felt were related.

No one appearing on the list is in a position of power today, nor did any hold a position in a public office after the system change.
