Gyurcsány says preventing civil unions curtails basic freedoms

The Hungarian Constitutional Court's recent thwarting of a new law legalising registered partnerships, including same-sex couples, is an interference with basic freedoms, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany wrote in his internet blog on Tuesday.

The CC ruling, which excludes legal protection to partnerships on the grounds that protection is provided to the institution of marriage in the Constitution, is an expression of a "kind of conservative fundamentalism", Gyurcsany wrote. That ideology is gaining ground in Hungary, "threatening the freedom of people and the ideological independence of the state when restrictions are introduced and rights are curtailed in the name of tradition," the prime minister said.

"I would regret if Hungary did not see the threat in giving the green light to that mentality… the morals of freedom must be protected and the state is to assist in protecting them rather than take an opposing position," Gyurcsany wrote.

On December 15, the Constitutional Court struck down the law to go into effect on January 1, 2009, effectively preventing promulgation.

The law, passed a year ago, treated both heterosexual and homosexual relationships the same way which would essentially, make a registered partnership identical to a marriage, thus unnecessary, the court said at the time.

I agree, this is the most important issue in today's world, and requires our full attention.
Not an easy one either. "I pronounce you man and wife" works well for the few remaining heterosexual couples, but what about our gay friends?
"You may kiss the bride" also has a hetero overtone. What about the Hungarian custom "Elado a menyasszony" (guests pay to dance with the bride, to help recover the cost of the wedding).
And I really don't want to get into any details on how to consummate the marriage.
As you see, we have a problem here. Never mind that we are running out of gas, money and the will to live, gays first.

Deflect attention away from the REAL crisis by concentrating on such pathetic issues as gay tolerance etc... Talk about the band playing on whilst the ship sinks !

Gyurcsany is correct on this. The bullying of minorities by majorities is unpleasant at the best of times. No-one asks for special treatment but merely that couples of the same sex may register their partnership and then enjoy equal rights and responsibilities on such matters as tax & inheritance laws. The constitutional court has blocked this.

In reality, the silent majority are not right wing fundamentalists & are happy that their neighbours enjoy equal rights. The church will not adopt this live & let live approach & the politicians of the right want those catholic votes.

Gyurcsany should push through the legislation in a form which the constitutional court would accept.

I think Mr Gyurcsany is right. Permitting the pairs either to marry or to have a recognized both registered and non-registered partnership, with indipendence with the fact that they are of different sex or of the same sex, is the only thing which is really up with the needs of a modern couple in a 21st-century progressed society. In any case I'd like to remember that neither God nor the Bible said nothing about homosexuality or necessity and indissolubility of wedding, and also that there were many cases of gays and lesbians who were tolerated and respected by both ancient Greeks and Romans. So do we really want to live in a most obscure era than under the ancient, cleverer civilizations? Let the homo marry in peace, and people join together in the way they want!!!

The law of Free Will is the ultimate law in the material universe. This law allows people to make any choice they want, as a result everyone will receive what they have sown. So the choice for Human beings is how do you want to learn your lessons in life?
Do you want to learn by doing whatever you want? or use certain guidelines which enable you to learn from the mistakes of others so that history doesn’t have to repeat itself ? Homosexuality was not created by God, and therefore it is not a natural or necessary part of creation. Because of the Law of Free Will, a nation has a right to create civil laws that recognize homosexual marriage or in other ways seek to normalize homosexuality. Yet can a nation truly make a free choice without understanding the inevitable consequences of its actions? How can you exercise freedom of choice if you do not have a proper understanding of the consequences of your choices?
Many people have such a negative reaction to the fear based culture promoted by orthodox religion that they are not willing to even consider the issue of God’s law. So let us put aside this issue and use common sense to evaluate what might happen to a society.
As an example, consider the nation of Holland which has very lenient laws towards homosexuality, drugs, prostitution and pornography. The inevitable consequence of this lenience is that all of these practices will flourish.

cont

As one consequence, you have children who at a very early age are literally sold into sexual slavery (homosexual and heterosexual) either through pornography or prostitution. You have children who grow up among adults who use drugs on a daily basis. To cope with the abuse, many of these children begin to use drugs at a very early age. Simply consider what kind of adults such children will grow up to become. Simply consider the amount of social problems that this can create for a nation.

Then consider that the nation of Holland has a very elaborate welfare system in which the state pays for all manner of social problems. Is it difficult to predict that in the not too distant future the cost of social problems will become so great that the tax base can no longer support it? When people are so burdened by psychological problems that they can no longer hold a job and pay taxes, what will happen to the economy? Then what will the nation of Holland do to find the money to attempt to solve the social problems that it has created through its own leniency?

Many Americans think that their own nation could not possibly make the same mistakes. Yet you have states in this nation in which prayer is forbidden in public schools, yet these same schools teach young children that homosexuality is a normal form of sexuality. The same states are considering legalizing homosexual marriage and thereby sending the message that this is a perfectly normal lifestyle that has no negative consequences.

It is true that America is predominantly a Christian nation. It is true that most Christian churches condemn homosexuality as being in violation of God’s laws. Yet the vast majority of other religions take the same stand concerning homosexuality, so this is not a viewpoint confined to one church or one religion.
How can the civil government legalize homosexual marriage and at the same time maintain the status as a nation under God?
quoted by Kim michaels

Therefore God has not created the current conditions found on planet Earth. Human beings have created these conditions and they have done so by using, or in many cases misusing, the gift of free will that they received from God. Therefore, one can truly say that virtually any condition found on planet Earth is the result of choices made by human beings. This includes homosexuality.

hotpaprika you are one sad man, just like Stan, of whom I am not a fan

IBS I'm really not here to make you happy or agree with you, i'm here to debate, so go crawl under your rock you menance.

Ok, Hairy P let's see if there's a brain lurking
in your hollow core (or we should just dry you and
use you as a rattle - makes pretty much the same
sound).

Freewill is not any of that nonsense you have just
cut and pasted (not much sign of intelligence
there) but 'a rational agents control over their
actions and decisions', where a rational agent
means one who response to information and their
environment. In the biblical sense freewill is not
ordained by God as a set of boundaries, quite the
opposite.

So go ahead stupid, your turn.

IBS Go f**k yourself!

Battle of the ideologies LOL! Hotpaprika illustrates Free Will well in his explanation.

"The lunatic is in my head
you raise the blade, you make the change
you rearrange me ' till I'm sane
you lock the door
and throw away the key
there's someone in my head but it's not me"

Imitation Hotpaprika,
Another stolen idea, huh?

Every time I see a grammatically correct sentence under you 'byline' I know you have lifted it from someone else. It is also a good bet that you took it from http://www.askrealjesus.com
Aren't you embarrassed?
Looking forward to your usual burst of incoherent jibes copied out of 'The complete idiot's guide to basic insults'.
The "real Jesus" you asked is actually Kim Michaels and her answers are copyrighted, you phony thief.

I quoted his name you fucken idiot!!!!!

'fucken' - thats so funny!!!!! You can't even
spell that!!!!

Gullible
You still looking for photo's of me on your gay sites ? Sorry to disappoint.

ahh buffhead IBS go look in the Urban dictionary, you should get out more often or are you locked up in some looney bin?

Innocennti
Actually where he comes from that is the correct form of slang spelling !
You know, like the 'fuckin' of the Irish ,or fuck'n of the Scottish etc..

So Hotpaprika, in your view Civil Partnerships will lead to child slavery, drug addiction plague & the failure of civil society. See Holland! If only Hungary could be a little more like Holland. An educated liberal & wealthy society not obsessed with politics & failures of the past.

The trouble with fascists, socialists and religious fundamentalists is that they want to dictate how others live. It makes one wonder whether they have full lives of their own.

What sort of life do you have Hotpaprika? Is it just you & the keyboard?

We could do the world a favour & arrange for you to meet up with Ricsi & Stan. You might then experience the real warmth of human friendship. If you had a life perhaps you could lay off telling others how to live theirs – but then maybe not.

Geza do what you please it’s your free will, however Drugs Homosexuality and many other impure manifestations caused by the free will of human beings will only lead our consciousness into further chaos, there are rules to this universe that can create a utopian society and we can reach this through the understanding of the Laws and Christianity not which is a stepping stone towards creating higher consciousness, what I am trying to say is that society doesn’t benefit from the freedom of open slather desires, in reality it creates social problems, serious ones, people lose thee true purpose in life and become lost souls manipulated by the dark forces who created a situation on planet Earth that is very far away from creating a successful society, and our original vision and intent.
Every human being is constantly creating. You create through the power of your attention.
For many centuries these forces have had no respect for the laws of the universe and have manipulated people into focusing their attention on imperfection. The population has accepted the idea that a small elite are able to control wealth and power. Another development is that it is difficult to be successful by being honest and moral. Society are forced to compromise spirituality in order to survive in this material world.

HotPaprika
