The response of Hungary’s government to the financial and economic crisis over the past two to three months has been superficial and has lacked vigour, Ibolya David, leader of the small conservative opposition Democratic Forum, at during an extraordinary parliamentary session convened to debate the economic crisis on Thursday.
David said the Democratic Forum had put forward substantial proposals to deal with the crisis at last November’s National Summit, but the government had not taken any of its suggestions into consideration.
She said her party stood by its proposal to introduce a flat income tax.
Referring to the economic reformer Lajos Bokros famed for his austerity package during the first Socialist-Liberal coalition in the mid-nineties, she said she was in agreement with him on the nature of reform, namely that any real reform which got to the roots of the country’s problems must cause pain for many, but Hungary’s politicians had been too cowardly to undertake proper reform.
YES we do know ID, the globe is round!! Do we need to explain this further to you??
Does anybody still listen to her ??
Mawar, was that an attempt at humour? I don’t get it at all.
Actually I think MDF normally have the best and most consistent proposals. Pity they are pretty much dead men walking.
Dubious, how many times you have heard over-and-over again “the roots of the country’s problems must cause pain for many”??
Broken record, ANNOYING!
Oh, OK, I see. It is bloody tiring. I agree.
But lots of people in this country really don’t accept or know this. Lots and lots and lots.
