Gyurcsány calls Hungary’s new economic policy “patriotic”

Hungary’s new economic policy is “patriotic” and will be built on the country’s self-financing capability while cutting the burdens on businesses, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany said at a conference on Thursday.

The past 10-15 years of Hungarian economic policy has been built on foreign resources and technology whereas the new Hungarian economic policy will be built on domestic resources, Gyurcsany told a finance conference organised by Hungarian investment association BAMOSZ and the DEMOS Foundation.

Gyurcsany said most countries now face budget problems and the public, businesses and banks are all turning to the state for help.

Around 10-15 percent of Hungary’s populace is struggling to withstand the pressures of global competition. For these people, local alternatives should be offered, and, eventually, global and local development models should be connected, the prime minister said.

Owing to a two trillion dollar package recently announced in the US, liquidity will be drawn away from other parts of the world, which will pose major source of conflict between the US and other regions, he said.

Head of the internal market and services directorate at the European Commission Elemer Tertak said the US-centered global economic system should be revised in order to better adapt it to current multi-polar relations.

Well if nothing else,Gyurcsány must be thick skinned, for who else with such a track record of lying, cheating and corruption would dare use the word “patriotic” to describe his new policy.

These domestic resources. Maybe Gyurcsi know something we don’t know? That the international price of paprika and melons is about to skyrocket? That oil really does exist under the 8th? That porn is about to double in price?
Seriously, not a bad idea really. But doe he have any idea which resources to use? Considering Hungary is sat on top of a huge underground hot water sea but the only exploitation is some spas and nobody in power is talking about it here I doubt it. Looks like we’ll have to stick to growing vegetables and making skin-flicks then.

Well, here is the key to his logic
“Hungarian economic policy has been built on foreign resources and technology whereas the new Hungarian economic policy will be built on domestic resources” … need he say more??
