Hungarian domestic political conflicts present a danger to the stability of ethnic Hungarian communities in neighbouring countries if they seep beyond the borders, Budapest’s mayor said, commenting on an assault he experienced in Oradea, W Romania, last Friday.
In an interview in Romania’s Hungarian language newspaper Uj Magyar Szo on Tuesday, Demszky, an MP of the liberal Free Democrats, recalled how after attending launch party for his book “Eastern Eden” in a local cultural centre at the invitation of the Varad literary paper, he had stepped out of the building, only to be met by a group of skin-head protesters dressed in black uniforms shouting slogans such as “Traitor” and “Come Out”.
Demszky said that such incidents damaged Hungary’s relations with ethnic Hungarian communities abroad and harmed Hungarian-Romanian relations. He said that the incident was directed against him from Hungary.
“Hungarian politicians are responsible for ensuring that our domestic political conflicts should not be taken to ethnic Hungarian communities,” Demszky told the paper.
The protesters, who were carrying banners associated with the radical nationalists, assaulted the chief editor of the paper, Laszlo Szucs, the agency said.
The other local paper Erdelyi Kronika said on Tuesday that members of the Hungary-based 64 Varmegye radical youth movement and the Hungarian Youth of Transylvania were present at the demonstration when the assault took place.
There was no “skinheads” at the demonstration against the coming of Demszky to Nagyvarad, you can see this very well on this video : http://video.erdon.ro/video/38269/tiltakoz–s-demszky-g–bor-nagyv–radi-l–togat–sa-ellen
This “incident” was not directed from the little Hungary, but was a simple patriotic reaction to the coming of a political who supported the NO at the double-citizenship referendum in 2004.
These traitors like Demszky and others rejected the Hungarian minorities, never support them for anything, and after this they would like to come to Transylvania and give lessons to them? What a joke!
