Szekeres not to challenge Gyurcsány for Socialist party chairmanship

Defense minister Imre Szekeres has announced he will not challenge Socialist Party chairman Ferenc Gyurcsány at the upcoming party congress, fn.hu reports. Szekeres was nominated by the Socialist Party’s Nográd County grouping to stand alongside Gyurcsány and Socialist parliamentary faction leader Ildikó Lendvai.

Szekeres explained his decision to not run by stating that at the moment, the party and government need to show ever greater unity.

For those who understand Hungarian and haven’t seen it, here’s the link to the video:

It’s an hour-long speech by Orban, and I recommend it to everyone who’s interested in a politician who actually has a grasp on what’s wrong with Hungary and may have some ideas to dig this bankrupt country out of the ditch.
Orban is a lot easier to listen to, he doesn’t have the speech-impairment of Gyurcsany, and if he’s lying, at least it’s not as obvious.
So go listen, and tell me what you think.
