Orbán says government turning clock back to communist era

Hungary is currently in political crisis as a result of the Socialist government’s attempt to restore the country’s [communist] past, said the leader of Fidesz, the main conservative opposition, at a party rally marking the March 15 national holiday.

Addressing a large gathering in Budapest’s castle district on Sunday, Viktor Orban said the past seven years had seen “futile attempts to turn back the clock”, and this had only served to “destroy the lives and work of millions”.

“The political clan in power cannot accept the failure of the old Socialist order,” Orban said.

Orban said the country must be “reclaimed from those who have put it to ruin over the past seven years.”

“The government’s resistance must be crushed day by day, little by little,” he added.

Damn, this cat might actually have something here! The past seven years was enough time for conversion to a successful economy in Hungary. The Socialist clan must be evacuated from the seat of authority if Hungary is to continue it’s route in the Euro Zone. If not, then it will take another 7 to 17 years to bring about the reform needed to be a medium to strong contender in the world market as we know it today and for the future. Eventually, generational change will prevail because of the direction in the rest of Europe.

Hungary has two major national holidays: March 15 and October 23. Two revolutions, both failed miserably.
What we need is something brand new: a successful uprising we can be proud of. The sooner the better. A million angry people at the Parliament, pushing the storm troopers into the Danube and bringing the corrupt, fascist government and its supporters to justice. Thursday would be good for me.

A million angry people led by who? A leader who succesfully failed two elections, and does not present the slightest challenge for those goverment drekbrains??
Show me a believable leader :-) Pretty please, with sugar on top :-P

There are a stream of incompetents ‘at the ready’ to take over. We all must realise that there is no Captain Fantastic, nor Messiah, about to come along and lift this country out of its
    current malaise.
GF, has, single-handedly, put the clock back twenty years.
Unless someone, soon, gets to grip with the realities (or the unrealities) here, there is some nasty medicine in store for us all. Believe me!!!

Watching Politics at work in Hungary is a truly depressing pastime.
Do these people making speeches really believe what they’re saying??
Do any of the people listening believe it?
I am amazed that the word ‘FUTURE’ can be applied to anything given the current situations.
Situations all of Hungary’s own making.
With the current Goverment making itself a laughing stock throughout the EU and the likelyhood that the next Governments arrival will set Hungary back another 30 years in the eyes of Europe… Things don’t look at all rosy.
It’s classic ‘car crash TV’ in real life.
I know there are only 10 Million Hungarians… but come on……
