Hungary’s Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany is not expected to face a challenger when the Socialist party convenes at the weekend to hold elections for senior posts, but minor changes in top leadership are possible, Nepszabadsag daily said on Tuesday.
Gyurcsany represents the struggling reform wing of the party, though the prime minister has been under huge pressure to accommodate the party’s traditional wing of leftists.
The minority governing party’s centrist deputy leader Ferenc Juhasz will seek to renew his position along with the left-of-centre Defence Minister Imre Szekeres. Head of the Socialist party leader’s office Monika Lamperth, on the party’s hard left, is also seeking the post of deputy leader.
Szekeres is tipped to keep his post while Juhasz “could tumble,” the paper said.

Congratulations Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus on your upcoming re-election.
And ladies and gentlemen if you think Gyurcsány is a dumb politician, think again. Just look at this bunch of saps, who still think Gyurcsány is their best choice. What does that tell you about the intellectual capabilities of MSZP rank and file. Yepp. And to think I once thought Gyurcsány was a breath of fresh air in his party who would reform the Socialists.
Sheesh: To know the truth is the greatest wisdom.
MSZP = A bunch of ‘bedwetters’ led by an incompetent moron. The country looks on ‘amazed’ and ‘disgusted’.
Send for the cavalry/marines. I wish we could!
