District VII property scandal "just the tip of the iceberg"

While former District VII mayor György Hunvald remains under preliminary arrest for his part in the property scandal that broke late last November, the case is "just the tip of the iceberg," reports Index.hu in a round-up of property fraud over the past year. Over this period, there have been 12 allegations of improper dealings between local government officials and hand-picked associates who have been able to purchase properties at favorable prices. The total loss to the taxpayer is in the hundreds of millions of forints.

Are we surprised? It is one thing for a police officer to accept a bribe, not acceptable, but when they only earn little more then minimum wage, one has to survive. But for a public servant in government, they should be prosecuted to the highest extent. They are all overly well paid with many benefits and for what?
Sorry, it just really P{^$@(* me off!!!

What chaps my a$$ is EON telling us the reason for high gas prices are because the gas they receive costs more. Really? How about those little EON trucks being used for personal convenience, i.e., I see them at the gym, the shopping center, city parks. Well...who ultimately pays for the fuel, purchase and maintenance of these vehicles? You and I, that's who. I was given a company car once (not in this country) and was told if I was ever caught using it for non-company business, I'd be fired on the spot. I guess EON doesn't care.

In twenty years nothing substanial has happened on the political front. It has been the same old commie ’business as usual’ and the corrupt fat-cats get the cream.
The ping-pong politics of the two-party system is futile and only serves the ’ends’ of those who support it. And those adherents do so for personal gain. They do not in any way, shape, or form, serve the people.
The medieval polgarmester/local government is a shambles. The methods of collecting taxes (or lack of them) are, in a word, ’hopeless’. And, it is, as many people have already commented: a national sport to avoid paying tax.
Now is the summer of our discontent. The complete removal of all the same old, tired faces, from the political arena is what ’s required.
What’s writtem here and in a thousand places elsewhere amounts to the same thing: Change, Reform, and removal of the corrupt crowd of bushwhackers from mainstream politics. GET rid of them now!!!
