Party leaders express opinions on Bajnai

Party representatives gave their opinions on the nomination of Economy Minister Gordon Bajnai for the post of prime minister before regular business in Parliament yesterday afternoon.

Outgoing Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány said he is recommending an “honourable democrat and social democrat in the person of Bajnai”.

Gyurcsány added that Bajnai “will be protected from the ignoble attacks from those who for years have been unwilling to utter a forthright sentence, who have used their influence to intimidate or mislead Hungary and who are campaigning to ensure that a lack of understanding, hate, and spiteful words are defining among people.”

Fidesz caucus leader Tibor Navracsics responded that the Socialist Party and the Free Democrats have found in Bajnai someone who has actively taken part in the government’s total lack of action over the past three years: a person who was active in putting Hungary where it is now.”

Free Democrat chairman Gábor Fodor asked Fidesz to support a cabinet of technocrats and stand up for Bajnai “as this in Hungary’s interests”.

By “those” Gyurcsány surely meant his Socialist government. Let’s see:
-”for years have been unwilling to utter a forthright sentence” – CHECK
-”used their influence to intimidate or mislead Hungary” – CHECK
-”campaigning to ensure that a lack of understanding, hate, and spiteful words are defining among people” – CHECK

In nominating economic minister Gordon Bajnai it would appear that the logic is:”he who created the mess must clean it up”?!
The train rolls on and is just one kilometer away from total disaster.
One final note. Should we be enthused in the knowledge that “Frankie” has given Bajnai his endorsement?
    Happy days, one and all!
