“The Socialist Party will have three main candidates for the post of party chairman at Sunday’s convention; Péter Kiss, Ildikó Lendvai and Imre Szekeres,” deputy chairwoman Mónika Lamperth announced after an executive committee meeting on Wednesday.
Lamperth announced that candidate for prime minister Gordon Bajnai will make a speech at Sunday’s party convention and that the national council will hear him and arrange the event on Thursday afternoon.
The Socialists will kick off their European Parliament election drive after Easter, Lamperth revealed.
Magyar Nemzet quotes an unnamed senior Socialist official as saying Szekeres and his supporters can count on the votes of 60% of the congressional delegates.
