Hungary’s credit line led by the International Monetary Fund allows for a more “left-wing” programme than the austerity package promoted by Gordon Bajnai, the prime minister nominee, a Socialist official said on Thursday.
Tibor Szanyi told commercial television ATV said that the Socialist parliamentary group was working on a “far more left-wing alternative” to Bajnai’s “painful” measures.
He said all outcomes depended on how flexible Bajnai and the group would be in their negotiations.
Szanyi said he trusted that the parliamentary group would be able to persuade Bajnai to agree on a compromise programme.
