Former president among signatories of petition demanding early elections

Fifty-six Hungarian public personalities demanded early elections in a statement released on Wednesday.

Former President Ferenc Madl, former House Speaker Gyorgy Szabad and former Constitutional Court member Janos Zlinszky were among those signing a declaration demanding early elections instead of parties bargaining behind the curtains picking a new prime minister, so that “the government can’t use the credit-crisis to sell out the country”.

In their view early elections would be the first condition to reinstate confidence in the rule of law, the statement said.

    @All
    Can anybody please explain to me WHY there SO MANY calling for Early Elections??
    I genuinly don’t understand WHY there is such big rush for this to happen?
    After stumbling through election campaigns and seeing 2 Prime Ministers exit Before Time??
    Surely people should be calling for some restrint in these matters and that a little time needs to be taken, in order that Hungary doesn’t allow itself to make another BAD CHOICE in a RUSH!!
    Looking around there are NO decent candidates for the Job at all from the current crop of contenders.
    Hungary needs to be brave enough to HOLD FIRM ahead of what could potentially be the most important decision of the last 43 Years.
    We DON’T need another Weak, Incompetent, Self-Promoting, Fraudster as Prime Minister.
    We NEED a Hungarian Hero that in their Heart The Common Good of All Hungarians and the Honest Decency to see the Job through to the end.
    Step Forward Please…

  2. Tanarur says:

    Bacsi, while you undoubtedly raise some good points, I believe the main reason why people are interested in early elections is because they believe the current government is illegitimate, and that it is incumbent first of all to have a government that people believe is, at a minimum, not completely and demonstrably cynical and crooked. While it was obvious to those of us who have a functional brain and access to information beyond what is fed to the masses who depend on the Hungarian media for their enlightenment that Gyurcsany and company were lying through their teeth even before the infamous tape surfaced, I think even many people who either supported MSZP and/or detested Viktor Orban were shocked at the complete baldness of the proclamations made then. I know this, in part, because I am related to some people who fall into this category. As to whether your desired Hungarian hero will step forward and claim his place, I would be interested in knowing who you might have in mind. I certainly can think of no one on the current political scene in Hungary who matches that description. In fact, I can’t think of any politician currently breathing on the face of this planet who matches that description. I think rather someone who has a basic honesty (again, a hard character trait to find in any politician), is willing to level with the Hungarian people on the hard choices that must be made in the current situation, someone like that would be blessing enough.

  3. Sue says:

    @tanarur, Have you had an unbiased look at Vona Gabor?
    No politician is perfect, so true, this chap though is honest about what is happening and is basing policies founded on Virtues, also is young not a left over from the old regime.
    You seem like you know what your talking about, would love to hear your sincere opinion?

  4. Bacsi says:

    @Tanarur
    Sadly there are no Politicians currently in Hungary that match up to the task…
    Let’s face it an Economic Incompetent has just been made Prime Minister.
    All the same old mistakes all over again.

  5. BroncoLane says:

    Tanarur and Bacsi. Correct! There is no, one, individual that matches the criteria to lift Hungary out of the mire. This is the single problem that will “haunt” us for some time to come.
    The Russians went in 1989. The system they bequeathed still exists! Incompetence, corruption, and total inertia, add to the problem.
    The black clouds gather on an already bleak horizon…

  6. Bacsi says:

    Sadly there are no viable political parties existing in Hungary right now.
    Each in their own way has allowd themselves to becaome ‘tainted’ over time and each contain visible failings that show them as unsuitable for the required leadership…
    The ‘New’ Prime Minister is already a man, marked out for failiure and thankfully his tenure will be short (but certainly not sweet?).
    Hungary currently doesn’t possess any party or idividual with enough sense of ‘National Purpose’ to deliver what Hungary so obviously needs.
    This is because we simply do not have enough ‘Honest’ experience in Open Governmant, to integrate into Europe.
    Where this leaves us is anybodys guess??
    Corrupt/Tarnished Politicians, No Money in the National Bank (?), Few Friends left within Europe, A $16 Biilion Dollar Loan, A Disfunctional Population that is weary of Lies upon Lies and promisess never fulfilled??
    We need help from outside Hungary to solve the deep set problems that are eroding what is left of Hungarys battered pride.
    From ‘Proud Empire’ to insignificant ‘Ant Hill’ inside a Century!!!
    That’s a hideous achievement and one that we would all do well to reverse as soon as possible.
    There is little point in Foriegners being the only ones speeaking up for Change within Hungary..
    Only when the voices calling for Change are HUNGARIAN will the ‘Real Revolution’ begin in ernest….

  7. Truth says:

    “earnest” Bacsi! Who are these foreigners speaking up for Hungary? And where did you acquire this information? Via, dear old, Erik? Something stinks in the state of Denmark!
    I believe, dear boy, despite all your flag-waving,patriotric rhetoric, that your remarks are “racist”! This message came across quite clearly in your last posting! Formally you decried others for their views on Roma/gypsies.
    You deserve the support of no-one. You are the worst sort of human life. Hungary for Hungarians? You bite the hand that feeds you. You are a nasty piece of nonsense – with hidden agendas. Whenever we read the name Bacsi on these pages- everybody, BEWARE!!!

  8. Axeman Eugene says:

    @Warped Truth – Bacsi – the worst sort of human life? Wrong! Evidently you haven’t visited Hungary. The worst kind actually is the brainwashed Hungo wannabee from America, Australia or the UK. Pako is more Hungarian than any of them! Probably more intelligent too.
    Have you found out the difference between an immigrant, a refugee and an expat? Quit your Crying Song!

  9. Godot says:

    Axeman,
    Is that a fact, or just your twisted little brain trying to get out? Where are you from, kid?

  10. Axeman Eugene says:

    @Godot – Astronomy Domine!

  11. Bacsi says:

    @Truth..
    In fact the ‘Truth’ is that you, like so many of your ‘friends’ on here DON’T like the truth…
    What you’re attempting is a fairly childish attempt to smear somebody else with your own brush.
    You make a large amount of incorrect assumptions in such a short post and use a lot of very cheap, ‘throw away phrases’..
    ‘flag-waving,patriotric rhetoric’
    ‘racist’
    ‘You are the worst sort of human life’
    ‘Hungary for Hungarians’
    ‘You bite the hand that feeds you’
    ‘You are a nasty piece of nonsense’
    ‘hidden agendas’
    ‘BEWARE’……..
    What a Crock of Shot you’ve just written.. I shouldn’t think you have very much idea what each of those phrases ‘really’ mean and how you’ve decided to ‘apply’ them towards me?
    My favourite is ‘Hungary for Hungarians’.. Your Words I think? Because I’ve never used such a Phrase…..
    In future Please try and engange your (obviously small) brain.. before you open your mouth.. if there is a next time..
    You wouldn’t call me a ‘Racist’ to my face.. I can promise you.
    That has been tried unsuccesfully before by another, who most surprised when meeting me in person for the first time.
    Don’t EVER presume to use that remark again. You can take that statement any way you desire…
    It is indeed YOU that should ‘BEWARE’ when choosing what words YOU ATTRIBUTE to others?

  12. 2U says:

    Big, bullshittter, Bacsi. I call you what I wish – to your ugly face, and on this site. If you wish to engage in name-calling – you lose everytime.
    You are a self-opinionated, rogue, who struggles with the English language.
    Your low-life, foul-mouthed,nonsense, belongs in the sewer from whence you came. Dickhead!

  13. Bacsi says:

    @2U
    ‘Big Bullshitter’.. ‘Dickhead’
    Is that the best YOU can do, you Ingnorant Retarded Asshole..
    If you think that YOU are the WINNER in anything other than a contest for FUCK-WITS then you’re even more of a SHIT FOR BRAINS than everybody already thinks you are…
    Only your alter-egos on this forum that pop up with even more STUPID ASS comments than you do UN-EDUCATED ANIMAL LOVER…
    Please make my day with some MORE of your Monumentally Stupid Comments…
    Each time you manage to write anything it only serves to highlight the difference between HUMAN & ANIMALS……
    If you can find your way backto your Dung Pile then please take yourself off and don’t bother coming back until you’ve learned to stop knuckle-dragging you KNOB-END.
    I do’t think ‘I’ struggle with the English Language at all, you MORON..
    Unlike YOU that has to concentrate just to breath in and out in the right order?
    Now ‘Thats’ Name-Calling you WANKER.

  14. Sue says:

    @Bacsi
    You really showed your maturity here! Not! You have no idea how to debate, you honestly think people will be convinced by a psyco? like yourself! Dont even answer this question.

  15. Bacsi says:

    @Sue
    Cool Your Jets there Sue…..
    You’ve presumed rather a lot don’t you think?
    Just because I’ve risen to the ‘bait’ that 2u and his cronies have put out doesn’t make me a Physco in any way whatever..
    I’ve (wrongly) allowed myself to stoop to the level of ‘Name Calling as these moron do all the time, when they find themselves losing an adult debate..
    What you seem to be saying is that it’s fine for them to sling the offensive stuff about?? But not vise-versa???
    When it comes back in the opposite direction.. all of sudden it’s NOT ON and it’s the rantings of a Physco???
    My point to 2U was a clear indication that my grasp of English is fine (thanks very much) and that I am just as able (if not more so) of penning some pretty offensive words, when the situation demands!
    Don’t ‘throw down the gauntlet’ and then be upset when it picked up and you get ‘slapped around the face by it’….
    These nationalistic twats infuriate me with their attempts to put THIER words up as the property of others and attepmt at every turn to discredit who, what or whatever doesn’t fit with their warped view of the World (which is just Hungary in fact!)
    I accept perhaps a little more restraint could have been shown on my part?

  16. Axeman Eugene says:

    @Bacsi- “Your low-life, foul-mouthed,nonsense, belongs in the sewer from whence you came”
    You are already in a sewer of sorts. http://tinyurl.com/yw2tvn

    It’s kindA like Groudhog Day…
    Don’t ya think????

  18. Sue says:

    Back to the Topic! Early elections would lift peoples esteem! It will be a step forward back towards the centre right!
    And who knows what Hungary will be capable of again, starting from negative Left and working our way back to the Right positive side, it’s not about supporting right wingers it’s about Hungary for Hungarians, the Left has too many skeletons in the wardrobe, and a right wing government would help lift the country out of the turmoil, and thats what this Nation requires.
    When hearing the MSZP singing the International anarchist anthem made me shiver in the dismay especially how this party has used so much corruption to stand behind any anthem written.

  19. Bacsi says:

    @Sue
    I accept that the idea of sorting out this political ‘bun fight’ as soon as possible DOES have some merits.
    But looking at the currrent ‘Political Vultutes’ circling.. I’d suggest taking as long as is neccesary to root out the bad wood, MUST be seen as the First Step in the process?
    If not the Fruadsters will surface again later on and we begin once again….
    Hungary has made all these mistakes previously several times and it is exactly the way choices have been made in the past that has brought Hungary to where it is today?
    No right-minded individual could look at the state of affairs we see currently and be anything other than disgusted by what has been allowed to happen..
    And remember Hungary has been making its own choices for a good 20 years since the Ruskies left, with what results…..
    Ordinary Hungarians should be feeling the benifits of EU membership by now, but in truth the foundations were never in place for Hungary to ‘blend’ into the rest of Europe.
    For too Long Hungary has alienated itself from its direct bordering neighbours and shows them looking firmly backwards to what they consider as the Injustices of the past??
    Just how much longer will Hnngary be talking about ‘change’ in theoretical terms, instead of begining the process in earnest…
    For Hungary it will need a ‘Quantum Leap’ into the unknown..
    A Democratic Hungary has yet to be anything other than a concept. and this will need the help of many to pull it off

  20. Sue says:

    There always have been and always will be political vultures over Hungary, or any nations of the Globe and beyond J , by hovering Multies, power hungry elite etc pulling strings behind the scenes, especially when there is a buck to be made, treating Hungarians as worker bees.
    We have to work with the tools available internet and word of mouth and not have a panic attack like you seem to be projecting , simply put!
    We have been targets of certain political ideologies for many years this is a hot spot of Europe.
    We can learn from our past, Hungarians are new to having Democracy and 20years is a drop in the ocean compared to other progressive nations in the world, so again you are having a panic attack! Bacsi why add more hopeless mentality with your immature emotions to the economy of Hungary, we don’t need your empathy of stressing out people, they already are aware of where we have to begin, and that’s with tossing out the current regime of MSZP who have screwed, Lied and used in your face corruption, so Hungarians are more civil then many nationalities considering they haven’t revolted and started a coup.
    All we can do is highlight to the people the Lies as they unfold by the corrupt party members or businessmen, and not having the Media on our side makes the Task even more difficult.
    But there is still hope, one positive is that Hungarians aren’t as stupid in trusting the media too blindly believe everything that is being presented by the vultures that co

  21. Sue says:

    Cont:
    vultures that controlling the media, and that is a huge plus in favor of Hungarians.

  22. Bacsi says:

    @Sue
    In around about way you’ve written backs up what I wrote?
    There are as we both say ‘Vultures’ almost at every turn and in every asspect of Hungarian Life.
    I agree with you that TOO many of the key tools in Public Awareness are controlled by those that are bent on dis-infrmation as the norm.
    The Minoirty have been mis-informing the Majority in Hungary from back before anyone can remember.
    That it is still the desire of these people to continue the decption is the REAL Problem and that to wrestle control from the few will take more than ‘Harsh Words & Strong Language’ I can tell you for a fact?
    What I write may indeed seem ‘Gloomy’ but I prefer not to add do the confusion by under-playing the scale of the problems..

  23. Doktor Ki (v.12) says:

    @Sue and Bacsi.
    Left. Right. Both terms seem meaningless when used to describe the political axis in Hungary (and elsewhere in the world). Just as I wouldn’t call the Democrats or New Labour left-wing, I also wouldn’t call MSzP ‘lefties’.
    Were they singing ‘The Internationale’ or ‘The Red Flag’? I can’t remember. But surely it was sung from the communist, or possibly socialist or democratic, perspectives rather than the anarchist.
    Or are they actually all ‘mad-for-it’ Manchester United fans underneath those dodgy synthetic fibre suits.

  24. Bacsi says:

    It doesn’t really matter what these current Politicians claim to represent..
    In reality we all know that they represent for ‘Themselves’before the Hungarian People and for that reason none of them are suitable for a position of responsibility, even less a position with access to distribution of Funds…
    Where the right person can come from.. I really don’t know?
    But the short term Government that we have just been saddled with are already making the wrong choices inside a week!!!
    It’s lack of understanding of the true situation that is causing such basic errors in judgement.
    How, after the disaster the was the out-going chaps legacy, I find it hard to understand how and why the new man is already showing the World that he is clueless.
    Was he not paying attention during the last few years?? Because he surely must have realized that the ‘reforms’ that the last guy tried were doomed from conception?
    This is beacause they were concieved based on Flawed Information.
    As long as Hungaria Goverments continue to deny the scale of the problems they inherit, they are obvioulsy never going to be able to put forward any kind of cohesive solutions.
