Petrol bombs were thrown into two offices of the governing Socialist Party early on Tuesday, a local party official said.
The petrol bombs caused minor damage to the Socialist Party’s offices in the towns of Keszthely and Nagykanizsa in western Hungary.
The party’s Zala county executive Balazs Gora said that unknown perpetrators had also thrown a brick through the entrance of the Keszthely office and a halter and a letter were found in the hallway. The incident was reported by local taxi drivers at 7 am and the inspection of the office is still under way, he added.
An identical attack was carried out in Nagykanizsa too. Local officials said the attacks, which happened at around 1 am on Tuesday, are thought to have been coordinated.
Police late last week arrested members of a bomb-making gang operating in Pest County. They discovered bombs and bomb-making equipment as well as a stash of guns.
