SZDSZ finalizes EP election list

Hungary’s small liberal party, the Alliance of Free Democrats, has finalised its list of candidates for the European Parliamentary elections to be held on June 7, a party official told a news conference on Saturday.

Istvan Szent-Ivanyi said that it was important that personalities should represent the Free Democrats in Brussels who have espoused liberal values and worked for the liberal cause for many years, even if they are no longer active politicians.

The list includes such figures as Gyorgy Konrad, a writer who was banned under the country’s communist regime, Gabor Ivanyi, a well-known theologian, and Laszlo Rajk, an architect and son of the communist politician who was executed under the brutal Rakosi regime.

No, thanks. SZDSZ should just fade away. Some “liberals” they are. Hope they get what they deserve, or at least life in prison.
