Krisztina Morvai, who tops the non-parliamentary Jobbik party’s list for the June 7 European parliamentary elections, will initiate public debates with her parliamentary party counterparts, Jobbik leader Gabor Vona told the press in Budapest on Wednesday.
Vona insisted that Jobbik, which is described in the press as a radical nationalist party, had become the target of a campaign of slander over the recent past.
Gabor Fodor, leader of the liberal Free Democrats, branded the party as neo-Nazi in late April. At around the same time, Laszlo Kover, a senior figure in the main opposition Fidesz, said that Jobbik was neither a friend nor an ally — in the best case it was an opponent, he said.
In several local governments Fidesz and Jobbik councillors have formed co-operations.
Jobbik is closely associated with the Magyar Garda Movement, a uniformed paramilitary grouping whose members wave the red and white flag which many people associate with Hungary’s WWII-era Nazi regime.
Vona said that the attacks should not be taken seriously as “playing the fascist-Nazi card is a worn-out trope.”
Jobbik will refrain from debating with the left-liberal parties but, in response to their “base accusations”, it will initiate legal proceedings against some of their leaders, he said.
Vona said that Jobbik wishes to respond to attacks from Fidesz and its Christian Democratic ally item by item, since there is no room for a civic party alliance to slander a party which calls itself Christian nationalist.
One recent poll indicated that Jobbik has around five percent support — enough to gain seats in the European parliament.
Jobbik can very easily sort out this matter by a clear statement that it has no links or affiliations with groups such as the Magyar Garda and state clearly that it is against such Neo -Nazi Gruops?
That should start to build some sort of debate I’m sure……..

Jobbik already has stated it’s not Neo Nazi. Hungary for Hungarians! No Lies, corruption and scandal, so far the clean Truth has been promoted by Vona Gabor, just that people powers to be cannot handle the truth. And you seem to be struggling with it also bacsi.
