Foreign Minister says EC upbeat on Hungarian prospects, EU presidency

The European Commission has made a very positive approach to Hungary’s crisis management programme, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Balazs told Parliament’s European affairs committee on Tuesday.

Even the EC president confirmed this before the press, the minister said.

“No one should be deceived” by the fact that the analysis compiled by the staff of the EU financial commissioner and published recently provided a gloomier picture. The document, which is otherwise correct, was based on figures from three months ago, Balazs said.

The minister stressed the need to make the donor countries have an interest in maintaining the status quo in the current cohesion and agricultural policies. Hungary is a beneficiary in both fields and would like to see the status quo preserved as long as possible, he said.

The minister said that preparations for Hungary’s EU presidency in 2011 are on the right track.

The committee approved a Foreign Ministry report about the situation of Hungary’s EU membership and European integration.

Ahhh, I get it, if you tell yourself and everyone around you for long enough that it’s all going to be alright, then, magically, it will be !!
Didn’t Gyurcsany Ferenc make a comment to parliament on how well his proposals were received by the EU.
    The rest is history ……….
