Fidesz chairman Viktor Orbán accidentally voted in favour of reducing ministers’ salaries in Parliament on Monday, the senior opposition party’s press chief told state news agency MTI.
By pressing the “yes” button, Orbán became the only Fidesz-Christian Democrat alliance MP to vote with the Socialist Party and the Free Democrats when the House voted to amend legislation on the legal status of cabinet members and state secretaries.
It is “mere window dressing” to reduce ministers’ salaries by 15% after they have virtually been tripled, Fidesz caucus director Róbert Répássy said in the general debate before the House vote.
Democratic Forum chairwoman Ibolya Dávid also pressed the wrong button, according to hirado.hu.
