Socialist party chair defends decision to remain in power

“It was worth taking on the responsibility of managing the crisis, as it serves Hungary’s interests, and the first results are already tangible, Socialist Party chairwoman Ildikó Lendvai told reporters in Veszprém on Thursday.

“The first results of the crisis management measures are clearly visible, in that we managed to avert immediate danger,” she said.

“Taking into account all the members of families with loans, four million Hungarians have already profited, directly and tangibly, from the Socialists taking on the job of managing the crisis,” Lendvai asserted.
